I feel very over welmed and lost! My son left for bootcamp bound from DFW today and should get there tonight! I do not understand how to find groups or other moms in my area, understand half of the vocabulary and have NO clue as to 8 weeks from now regarding bootcamp! I would appreciate all help...he is my only child and I feel very lost! My husband is working out of state too so I just feel kinda alone. I know I am not but I cried enough tears ysterday I felt I had been to a funeral...I know it may sound silly but I was a single parent for 14 of those 18 years and well he has been my life and evern if I find myself busy doing something it does not change the fact there is a void there ad I dont know how to deal with that either. I am use to having a phone call, or text everyday and  its like for 18 years I was full speed ahead and now all of a sudden I am suppose to come to a complete stop! I would appreciate any of you that can help, become a friend or live close to me to give advice or be  a friend!

Thanks :-)

It will get better, like most things-time heals.  My son also left today and although I fight back tears I just keep thinking about how excited I am for him as he starts his adventure. There are amazing people on this site who will refer you to many helpful links more quickly than I can but if they don't I will try to help.

You haven't come to a stopping point just a new road and you can support him while he travels this road.  Graduation or Pass In Review (PIR) is right around the corner.

Be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead! 1 Peter 1:6

You might want to join this group here...

Also, you will find groups here tied to your SR's training division and PIR date. Hang on, in just a minute someone will post some links for you

Here are some links that will help you.  Also on the right side of this page about halfway down is "Navy Speak" where you can get definitions of terms.  Lemonelephant is a wonderful resource on Navy for Moms and I'm sure she will provide you with more info.

Hi I feel for you scrappingmomma! My son is leaving right now... He is on the plane from Florida to bootcamp! I feel lost like you but I know he must find his way in the world and what a great place the Navy will be for him to discover the world! It's a new chapter for us too! I know I am thinking of new ways to define myself besides that of "mom" I am married but my husband is having his own crisis... We are a close family and now it's just me and him. We have an empty nest now with both of our kids off in the world. This Navy Moms website is helping me a lot!! Did you find the chat?? The bootcamp videos show everything our boys are going through. Be strong .... We can do this!!! This was the same advice I gave my son.

Hi scrappingmomma

My son Connor let on 8//6 for GL got his box but no letter .Hopefully I will get his letter soon ,just would love a call even if  it's for a minute to hear he's ok. I to don't quite understand what to do either. hopefully we can learn together...

So my son left Aug 4th and flew out and landed in Chicago Aug 5th got the call around 10:30 that night!! This has been a really LONG week...nat a lot of sleep either. So As i said previously got the box Fridya and the letter Saturday abotu his grad date beign Oct 4th. It has been bitter sweet all of it b/c I was down when I got the letter and relized it was just formalaties and not really a letter from him!

But today Sunday my phone at 7:23 am and it said Illinois and I jumped up for the phone and he said Mom...I said yes..he said my grad date has been changed to Oct 11th...I could hear them standing right beside him almost breathing on the phone...and I said I love you..he said I love you too, Bye! It was a 32 sec phone call and he sounded so distant and I could tell I was nto to ask anything more about it!

All that did was make me cry againa nd wonder what happend or why the delay when it was suppose to be Oct 4th. I just wanted to put this out there. He had his dental check up several months before and even though he has had cavities I dont think that was it and I also dont think its academics and physical yet b/c he was still in processing which takes about 5 days.

I know my sone made Special Forces as a Navy Diver....but I dont know if he got sick, had another cavity or what happend. I am sure this next week will seem very quite b/c it is finally sinking in and getting very quiye without him.

Just thought I would ramble...

It simply could be they've got a lot of recruits all at once and had to rearrange some of them to even out divisions.  Or a paperwork thing.   Hang in there!

My boyfriend left a day after your son. Im still waiting on his address. Hang in there! You can do it!
