HI! I have some questions about letters, and was just wondering if you could all supply some answers!
1) How long does it usually take, from the day they leave to receive a letter from your SR?
2) my SR will have a lot to say... Should I send him writing materials such as paper, envelopes, and stamps? I know they receive some there, but I know he will write a lot to myself and his family.
3) what day are letters sent out?
4) Should I send out my letters every day to my SR, or just when I hear back from him? If I send out my letters every day, will he receive them every day?
5) What days are mail call?
6) How long is the average letter?? Keep in mind, mine is coming from my boyfriend. He is my best friend, a chatty cathy, and i'm the primary person he'll be writing to !
ANY and ALL answers are helpful!

1) 10 days is average
2) He can get writing materials at the RTC, but if he asks for more yes, you can send him more. Although he can receive writing materials in a large envelope or package, he would have to open that in front of the RDC and he does NOT want to do that, so you might want to send a piece of paper and an envelope in each letter that you mail. Remember to make sure that your letters are less than one ounce so that they go for 49 cents because letters that require additional postage almost always have to be opened in front of the RDC.
3) Letters are mailed from the RTC only on Mondays at first beginning with the Monday after the second or third Sunday after arrival.
4) Send letters every day. Even though you may only get one letter a week, he will love receiving one or more letters from you (and others) every Mail Call.
5) The first Mail Call could be on the first Sunday that your recruit is in his ship--this happens for some divisions, but not all--or it could be day 1-3 or 1-4 DOT after the Recruit Mail Petty Officer has been trained for the division. After the first Mail Call, Mail Call will be every weekday(Monday-Friday) evening before TAPS.
6) The length will depend on how much time your recruit has and how many letters he chooses to write to you and other loved ones. He may be very chatty or write only a line or two. None of my letters or those to my daughter was more than a page and it is stationary size paper--My Sailor is my son. Some fiancées have had letters of several pages and some of only a few lines as well. It will all depend on what is going on with him. Don't be upset if you get a letter that is very short some weeks. Although you will be on his mind when he has down time, he may not always be able to write during that time and he has other things to do during holiday routine than just to write to you.
More complete answers to the above and much more can be found in Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.
BTW, you still need to change your profile pic. You are a cute couple, but it is not a good idea to include a pic of your SR every time you post. I am pretty sure that anyone who has met your SR would be able to identify him from your pic. Info on that and more is on your My Page.
