My husband is going to boot camp early feb and then straight to A school for hospital corpsman. He wants me and our 4 month old daughter to move where his A school is but Idk. The thought of moving to a new place is exciting but what's the point if I'll barely see him. I live at home now but I'm not comfortable here at home and I'm going to start online classes so nothing is really keeping me here anyway. I would love some thoughts and opinions especially if u have been in the same situation.

Once he gets to his A school, he can request permission to live off base with a spouse.  However, he must earn his liberty privileges first, and that takes about a month.  He will also have duty days he must spend on base, and his grades must stay good or he will need to move back into the barracks.

Find the corpsman group on this board, and some of the wives will have better information.  I know many choose to move down there.  Whatever you decide, start saving pennies for when you do move.  Even if you get a paid move, there are always out of pocket expenses.

Hi! I am a wife of a corpsman! We waited to move because corpsman A school is only about three months. My husband has been there since September and graduates this week and that includes all his holding times. But if he decides to go to a C school I would definitely move. My husband will begin Surg Tech school soon and it lasts 6 months. I, also, know that other Cschools like Pharm Tech and Lab Tech are longer too. He will find out about halfway through A school if he will be going on to a C school! Hope that helps! We just weren't willing to pay to move down here for only a couple months until we knew for sure he would be attending C school.
