Hi Proud Mom, Thank you for starting this group! My son is also in div 823 and I agree with you about pre buds and CA. This is the start of a very long journey.
Is he graduating Oct 29 from BC?
Yes, that is what he said in the form letter.
Hi Brenda, you are so right--this is a very long journey ahead of them. Have you heard much from your son? I got the form letter with a short note from him. I am still hoping for a "real" letter. How old is your son and where are you all from?
My son is 24. We are from Arkansas. All we have gotten is the form letter! Can't wait to hear more from him.
My son is same ship and same division. I am guessing that Ship04 Div823 is all pre-buds. My son is 22. He reported Labor Day and was sent to Great Lakes 9/07. I had a 34 second phone call on the 7th, received his box on the 9th, and the form letter on the 16th. His personal comments were "RTC is FUN and exciting". While I can't wait to talk to him and hear all about everything, I was thankful to know all is going well right now! He did a tremendous amount of research and study about SEALs, and he prayed about this decision AND he managed to change my mind as I initially thought he was nuts for wanting to even attempt that kind of grueling process. My understanding is that these guys will stay at Great Lakes post PIR to train and condition for the physical requirements of BUDs. My son's recruiter told him they ill most likely have about 5 days leave at Thanksgiving and about 10 days around Christmas. Also said that they likely will not go to CA until atleast January, maybe even February. We live in South Carolina.
We live in Florida--I don't know when we will get to see our son again after graduation!
Hi Carol. As you can see by the dates, these are older posts. Glad Brie caught yours. The more current conversations are happening on the last page (about page 36 right now.) Post a comment there and introduce yourself to everyone again. =)

If you have time, read through all the pages of posts first so that you can get to know this fun group of ladies better and maybe learn a few things you didn't know already! All the best to your soon to be Sailor. :) Enjoy the PIR Liberty weekend with him It's a long way from FL to CA, so you are right, other than the holidays possibly, it may be a while until you see your son again. :( Maybe you can fly out sometime for a visit, like on the 4th of July?? San Diego is beautiful and a neat area to explore, as is Chicago. The next graduation parents can attend isn't until the SQT one! One step at a time though. :-) Welcome aboard N4Ms!
Hi everyone. Has anyone received a real letter or anything from their son that left over labor day weekend or close to it? PIR date is 10/29. I just waiting for a phone call. Heard his voice yesterday on his girlfriends voice mail and it made me cry. Miss his voice. Hoping I will get a letter real soon.
Yes you cand send stamps or he can buy them there. Make sure they are either flag or liberty bell stamps. Anything else and he might get harassed. Not in a bad way they might make him do push ups or something physical like that. My son left with stamps and a phone card but nothing else. Hoping to get a letter this week. Pray hard it will happen...thats how I'm going to think.
Hi Bono's mom. We will be at grad together. I look forward to meeting other moms on here before we meet up at GL. My son said there is about 100 men in the same division (all seal candiates) the largest one they have had. So it should be very exciting. Just so you know I cried too when I read his note but you are right they were happy tears. NOw I am waiting for my first letter. This is the longest I have ever gone without seeing him let alone not talking to him in his whole life. So I need to just read what is going on, Talk to you soon.
My Son left on the 8th of Sept. from florida and is in the same division. I too am a wanna be Seal Mom. Glad to hear your son Loves the division i hope mine does too! Do you know when we will get to hear from them!! I guess I should send stamps. We have written him so many letters but not sure he will get them. The recruit gave me a different street than the one we got in the letter!! would love to know were some of you will be staying for graduation. We have been looking at the springhill marriott in waukeegan. I am going to be praying hard for all 100 seal recruits.
