For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Colleen, I'm Kathe and I just answered your post regarding if we could see them off. Unfortunately the sub pier is closed to family and we won't get to see them off, but when they return the Navy will open the pier so we can welcome them home. My son David is a Nuke and has been in the Navy for about 7 years now. First serving on the USS Jacksonville out of Norfolk, Vir. and now on the San Francisco here in Southern California in San Diego. Thank you so much for starting this group, I would love to get to know you and other USS San Francisco moms.

How exciting to have found you! My son Craig is a Nuke EM3 and just arrived in San Diego in May for his first assignment after graduation from Prototype in NY. Is still working on Dolphins but says he should earn them in a month or so. I'm in Albuquerque, NM. So nice to meet you and Kathe.

Aaron has his Silver Dolphins pin. We got a letter and a copy of the pin. He's sending his awards home, which I am excited about. I'm not into scrapbooking, but maybe I'll keep one for him.

Hi Sally nice to meet you. I spoke with my son David today and he believes he knows who your son Craig is. Colleen, Dave said the only Aaron he knows on the boat is an ELT, who is a chemist. He also said Aaron leads the church service on the boat, is that him? Dave is a 1st Class Petty Officer.

Hi, Sally and Kathe. Thanks for responding. My son Aaron is a Nuke also. He might be one of a few of African Americans on the San Francisco. I am having trouble uploading a picture to my profile. I hate the blank one there now! Aaron hasn't called in the last few days so I can ask him about his sub mates. Our oldest son Matt flew out there Friday to pick up Aaron's car and drive it back to the East coast. I guess he is very busy preparing for deployment. Even though we are clear across the country, I am feeling his departure keenly, as if he was right here. We haven't seen Aaron in over a year, so we won't see him until he comes back. It is hitting home now that he is really in the military and going on a mission.

Hi Colleen, My son doesn't have too much preparation for deployment, besides packing. He's married and owns a home here in California. Since we aren't going to get to see him for the holidays, our family spend Sunday at his house watching football and having "Thanksgiving" dinner. I can empathize with you not seeing your son for so long. When Dave was stationed on the East Coast, we wouldn't get to see him for months at a time and even longer when he went on deployment. I'm feel so fortunate to have him back home.

Hi Colleen,
I am a Mom whose son is aboard the USS San Francisco. We live way out on the east coast. This is his first deployment, and I have been in a lot of tears these past 3 days. Because of his schedule,we only saw him once this year, and that was in August. He is a nuke, and he has been trying very hard for his qualifications in several areas. Everything that could have went wrong with him getting ready for his deployment, went wrong. His last day off that he was counting on to tie up all his loose ends with personnal belongings, didn't happen b/c of problems that occured aboard the sub. We had made arrangements on his last day off to use the Web cam for a dinner at the table with his family from West coast to East Coast, Needless to say, We were so devastated that we weren't able to see him one last time before his deployment.His girlfriend has been out there a couple of times this year, and got involved in a phone tree with the wives in case of anything that changes. Don't they have anything like this for Mothers? I am feeling very confused and lost. Susan

I know how you feel. I wish we could have seen him before his departure. Wow. I hope everything is settling down for him now. I'm trying to get on that and an email list. I haven't heard from the "ombudsman" who takes care of those things. We haven't seen Aaron for over a year now, although we have talked to him over the phone. Our oldest son has seen him twice this year. He flew out there to pick up Aaron's car and drive it back to MA.
What helps me is knowing that he is in God's hands and that God loves him deeply. My faith gives me the strength. I will keep you all in prayer.
