Hello Everyone! It is my privilege to choose our March Group! First, though, I must extend hearty anniversary wishes to Navy for Moms.com! Yesterday I consulted with my "posse" who write letters and add to the boxes every month. They are ages 2 through 11. We looked at maps and anysailor. We are going to Kuwait this mont

I know that I have big shoes to fill considering my excellent predecessors but I pray you will all join me in showering these brave sailors with some N4M love! Pat

I got my boxes from the USPS today. I have two boxes filled and our W PA moms are meeting next Sunday and will be filling the rest. This is my first time sending boxes and I am just so excited! :) Any suggestions on what they need the most? I still have a week to get "stuff"
Denise, They want healthy snacks but Juan also said they could use ANYTHING. Sometimes if I see silly things that will give them a laugh, I throw it in the box. Thank you for participating, it makes your heart feel good.
HI
Current catalog has a sale on greeting cards and stickers I would like to send. However, for STATE, it lists only
Military forces in Atlantic, Pacific, or Europe. Does anyone know which I should use for the shipping address?
thanks
Carol
Carol, I just looked at the world map and none of those choices would apply, unless they call the middle east, Europe.

You know, Shell, I think this is something that Juan wants personally. He made a comment that way in one of the emails to Staci. I think all would like one, but it just depends on the cost. I hope that my friend comes thru with some info tomorrow!
That's the same thing I noticed on the Geographic maps. I'll see if their customer service is open today. If not, let me know if we decide to do the NEX card!
Hi Everyone, Only about a week left in March. Can you believe it? I have done A LOT of thinking about the bike situation. As I see it the complicated thing is the logistics. We don't know how far our sailors are from the PX. Is it impractical for them to go there and pick up the bike? In one of Juan's emails he said that they liked DVD's, Sodoku puzzles, word games, etc. While I am very disappointed because it would have been such a cool thing to surprise them with a bike or two, I just don't see it happening. What do you other moms think? I am very open to hear other opinions from you TERRIFIC ladies. Sincerely, Pat (BTW, as close as I can count so far we have sent 42 boxes PLUS Central Fla PLUS W PA! As always, YOU ROCK!!!!!
Sue, I agree that the bike thing is not going to be doable. I am not comfortable sending them a card to use at the Nex because we do not know for sure if it would be use correctly and if it is a gift for the whole group or for one person. I vote for the media package and puzzles. I also think that it needs to be stated that this is a gift to the entire group.
I will have to read back and see some of those emails from Juan..I did see the "Camel Jockey re-enlisted" pic.....
I just really hope that he is sharing all those goodies....I hope he-them get so much STUFF that he no choice.....
As far as the bike goes....It just seems like if you can't buy a few...why buy one..for 30 sailors. {get a mental pic} 30 sailors sharing that one....Don't think it would happen...
Diane, that's how I feel about the pillowcases. Either enough is sent for all or none. I haven't heard from Juan lately either and I don't know if he received the helo one that I sent just for him.
He did say, that he takes what he can use and puts the rest in the lounge for the other sailors. Has anyone heard from anyone else in the group?
My Kuwait contact has not gotten back to me, so I assume she couldn't find the number she was looking for.
Sue, I read that comment of his also and it gave me a funny feeling. As head of the group he is to see that things get evenly dispersed. He is suppose to see to it that those sailors who never get anything sent to them get things, Not take what he wants and leave the rest in a common area for everyone to just have a free for all. I'm sorry but some of his comments really make me wonder. I truly do not want to offend any of you, I think what everyone is trying to do here is great. But, I think we need to be careful also.
Well, I am curious about the picking process. Is there contact 1st to explain our 1 month mission? That we want to bless this group with lots of Navy momma love.

I re-read my emails and it was actually the Feb guy who said that he grabbed things he could use and then turned the rest over to the MWR. there is an enlisted lounge and that's where they store the packages for the others to grab what they need.

We can only do what we can do Jackie. But I have this fairness thing and I worry about some getting nothing. Oh well, off to bed.
I agree with you Diane. I could make myself crazy over it and I just won't.

In the letter I include, I say there are enough pillowcases for everyone and name the number. If there are some things for just the ladies, I say that. etc. otherwise, it's for whoever. Like the blister balm-I've never had enough for each, so I just ask them to share, cause alittle goes a long way.

Juan said he opened my box, got called away and when he returned, only 5 cases were left out of 30. So the groups know what to do. And really, I think they all share pretty good. At least it was that way when my son was deployed.
He would open my boxes in front of his friends and they helped themselves to whatever. They develop a real kinship when they are together.

I think the "grab what I want etc" was just an excited poor choice of words. Our sailors are the best! Can't wait to hear about the April group. Another friend of mine wants to help sew. So that is great!
