Molly had the GREAT idea to send some N4M love to some of our military that are "hurting".
I am going to say that July 12 is the "birthday" of this endeavor. July 13 it got named!!
"M.A.S. Special Hugs" - M.A.S. - for Molly's Adopt a Sailor!!!

From Molly: Hey Moms ---- we are having some wounded guys coming our way. Would you like to make a thread and those who would like to send a card or messages to our wounded ones.

If you know of someone in the military "hurting" and needing a "special hug" - PM me (Brenda Sue) the address and I'll post it in our "special place." I do ask that you keep us updated on the condition or change of address of anyone that has a lingering need.

OK - Mom's let's get this ball on the roll!!

I am going to keep these names in one place - so people don't have to read through hundreds of pages to find them. Go to MAS We Ship Love (Click Here) for the addresses. This is a private group - just ask to be a member and after you have been "checked out" - the powers that be accept you!

Please use the labels designed in the "Shipping Labels" discussion so they will be easily recognized!!

You can either print these on stickers or just tape them to the envelopes. If neither is possible, just write Molly's Adopt a Sailor on the envelope - so they know where they are coming from.

I will mail out a pillowcase to Michael now that I have his address. I have a friend in VA about 1 1/2 hours away. She's one of my crew. She will have her church mail him cards and maybe arrange a visit for him. thanks for posting Brenda.

Susan, will you find out if Chris got his pillowcase?
Will do!!!
I was thinking of figuring out my way to the VA in Seattle to visit our sailors there. Not sure but it will be either this Friday or next. I would just need to know where in the hospital to go and what would be a good treat to take them. Don't want to go empty handed. It wouldn't be a long visit but I feel the need in myself to go and do some good.
Nancy... I will send you a private message with my phone number... give me a call and I will clue you in about visiting Ross and Chris! I had a great visit with them today!
I mailed Michael a care package today. I just went thru my Sailor Stash and picked a few things. I hope he likes them.
Ladies thought I would update you on Chris and Ross... I was able to visit this afternoon. It was a 90 degree day here in Seattle (hot for here!) So you know that I made the stop for ice cream on my way! They both had their favorite flavors!

Chris was down in physical therapy when I arrived. He looked so good sitting up in his chair. So I was able to chat with him a bit there. He had a great session there and after that it was back to his room where I was able to chat with he and his mom for a bit more. He has enjoyed the movies that I had left and that a couple of you have sent. He also talked about the hat that someone sent... said he was amazed that a mom would know that it is the favorite kind of hat he likes to wear. I laughed and told him moms know everything! He has a lovely hula girl on his wall and his special stars pillowcase is on his favorite pillow. He did not want to decorate his room as he really wants out of the hospital. But he said he had to have his mom put the hula girl up! He is amazed at the cards and packages that he has received. He and his mom send many, many thanks! They are so amazed that so many Navy moms would take time for him!

Ross was learning how to transfer from his wheelchair to his pickup today. Found that the truck is really, really tall! We take for granted how simple it is to slide in and out of a vehicle. He was back in bed resting before dinner after his big workout. His dad showed off how well he could do a wheelie in Ross' chair. Ross is looking forward to his two brothers visiting this weekend. They are hoping that they will be able to get out of the hospital and over to the Fisher House for dinner and maybe a video game or two. Ross asked that I send thanks to all of you for the cards and packages that you have sent him. He has a box with all the cards in it. His dad says they like to look through them! Always finding one they don't remember!

Ladies... this is a wonderful project! I thank each and everyone of you that have written a card, sent a package or visited a patient. It really does mean so very much to them!
GREAT !! thanks for update -- so cool about his hula girl & everything - glad his spirits are good & its awesome that u visit !!!!

UPDATE, from something way back on page 2.
I saw friends of Daniel Gueringer in Sunday school. They were given the cards and letters that you had written, and gave them to his mother. They said, but you are a Navy group. I assured them it made no different. We are military moms.
Tonight, I heard how much she appreciated the support. Her son died a senseless death on July 4th. They said she opened the envelopes and just read them.I want everyone out there to know what an impact this group has on one mom to know people care about a child they never met.
LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Just 20 years old, Lance Corporal Daniel Gueringer would survive a seven-month tour in Iraq, to be killed at home while celebrating freedom.

"This young marine did not deserve this to go and serve his country admirably and to come back and think he's back home in the safety of his homeland," said Lake Charles Police Chief Don Dixon.

Home on leave from Camp LeJeune in North Carolina, Chief Dixon says the young marine was at a Fourth of July Party at 4030 West Prien Lake Road. Investigators say 20-year-old Taylor Ryan Johnson was also at the party without an invite. When asked to leave, a confrontation erupted - that's when police say Johnson called Bryce Perkins and Austin Rousseau.

"A confrontation ensued between this group and the other group and as a result a shot was fired by Bryce Perkins based on the information we know so far. Our victim Daniel Gueringer was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and is an innocent victim. And what we know so far was he was in fact trying to be a peacemaker," said Dixon.
Lynn and Susan - thanks so much for sharing the "fruit of our labors".
ugh - even I am so far behind - I really need to get on the ball. I know that I have to by August 30th for our Luau - so I'll get caught up myself!!
Susan, thanks for the update. I'm glad to know that Chris loves the pillowcase. I will make sure that my crew member who made it knows also.
