No TIA is thanks in advance :)

There are lots of fantastic restaurants around where the base is located. Depending on how far you are willing/able to travel, and how much you are looking to spend, there are a lot of options!  My husband is stationed at Great Lakes and we have yet to be disappointed with a restaurant here. :)

For steak, we particularly like Wildfire, Lawry's, PM Prime, Austin's, and Eddie Merlot's.  Wildfire has multiple locations around the area- I believe the one in Lincolnshire would be closest to the base but I may be mistaken- their website has all of the locations listed. Lawry's is located in Chicago itself, so would only work if you are planning to go to the city. PM Prime is located in Highwood, which is an easy train ride or drive from the base.  Austin's is located in Libertyville and is a pretty straight shot from the base.  Austin's has a huge menu with a variety of items so it would be good if not everyone in your group is a steak fan. It's also probably the most budget friendly restaurant of the ones I've mentioned, as well as the most casual. Eddie Merlot's is located in Lincolnshire.

Lovell's in Lake Forest is also supposed to be quite good and I think they serve steak, although we haven't been there before.

Definitely get reservations for any of these places, especially if you have more than a few people! Congratulations to you, your soon to be sailor, and your family during this very exciting time. :)

Does anyone know about Stevens? I heard they have steak and seafood also? I think they are in the area also.

I made reservations at Wildfire for 2 p.m. Would that give us enough time after PIR? I don't know how long after the ceremony we should plan to be on the base. Can you give me an idea as to how long I should plan on being on the base after the ceremony? Thank you.

We took our son to Wildfire and it was amazing. The only thing I would do differently is to take him on Saturday instead of right after graduation. He was exhauusted and didnt eat mych. He was much better better the day after.
