Yes, I drop my son off at the recruiting station today, they take him to MEPS. Tomorrow we are going to watch him swear in.

he left this morning...he told me his recruter said I shldn't go tmrw to get sworn in but I wanna be there...

Yes you can, and not to worry, most of the Moms here weren't ready and they adjusted. As will you.

he was told I cldnt go see him get sworn in this time but next time i will...?? gonna have to adjust...no choice there just hard

We didn't go to our son's first MEPS as we were told that itit wasn't recommended by our recruiter. I wanted to go so bad, but I knew this was a transition for us and our son. It's so hard to let them go and make this first step on their own, but it is good practice. My son signed into the DEP program this past June. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I couldn't sleep and the next day when he went through all the tests, I couldn't focus on my job. I was so elated when he called me on the phone to tell me that he was "in". I burst out in tears from the joy and excitement for him. So don't worry, your feelings are natural. We areare DEFINITELY planning on going to his final swear in when he leaves in July, even though MEPS is 6 hrs away from home.

Hang in there. You will get through this.

Our recruiter did not even tell us we could go.  I would have liked to have seen it but in the end it was probably better for both of us as the tears started flowing in the recruiters office when I dropped him off.  They spend the night with other soon to be military personnel and it seemed to help him get excited about going.

I'm over whelmed!! talked to him Briefly last night when he made it to his room after his 1st part of testing, havent heard from him today and he was worried about passing his physical only because of his ears always getting plugged up...I miss him and its only been a day in a half...cant wait to hear from him later today...I know in my heart he passed and made it "in" also...just nervous, scared of the unknown..I appreciate all of your feed backs...you guys are awesome!

Hanging in there :)

Wow, it seems like the're so many different recruiters out there. My son's recruiters were amazing. Kept in contact with him throughout the whole DEP process and made the whole experience for my son all that more exciting. Went to his swearing in along with his dad, uncle, aunt and two of his closest friends who are like family. As long as we gave the names to his recruiter beforehand and showed up with proper ID we were fine. We stayed from 8:00am till he left on the bus to the airport.

I not going to tell you it gets easier, but my son left a month ago today and I miss him so much that the thought of going another 3 months without him is almost sureal. Went food shopping for the first time in a month!! And still came home with only 2 bags. He's 6'3" and can EAT!! It was very sad, it made me cry, I miss cooking for him, I miss knowing he's in the next room. I miss texting him...I'm a single mom and he's my only one so the house is so very empty without him. But, what is helping me is the fact that he's so happy with himself for what he is doing that it's hard for me to stay sad. I'm so proud of him.  I write to him all the time, and when I received his first call and those first letters, my goodness it was a happy day!!  I am also one of the lucky ones where my son is doing reserve first. After A school in San Antonio he comes home, goes to school until he finishes his 4 years of college and then will go active and put in to be an officer. With him only 18 right now, I am soooooo grateful for his decision to wait to go active. All you parents out there who will not see your son or daughter for awhile,  I will say an extra prayer for all of you because I don't think I'd be doing as well as I am now.

single mom of 3 and he's my middle child, 1st born son...I'm extremly happy for him n Proud of him..I will be alone once he leaves also, my daughter will be moving out soon so that leaves me all to my self which is pretty scary but I'm more worried as this is his 1st time leaving home..I pray he will be fine

Good luck to your son @lifeisanadventureSHIO 02 DIV 908

I know bad recruiter what can you do. I was in the Navy and I remember mine well but we had no family there either other wise I might have asked about it.  To bad I didn't find this site before he left.

nice! beleive me..I dont want to miss it

We also didn't know we could go to the swearing in. As we dropped him off for the last time, the recruiter then mentioned it, but by that time, we couldn't schedule it.

Of course, our sailor never mentioned we could be there.
