Hi my name is Allie. My fiance just got to Kuwait today and I'm a mess. He left yesterday morning from a training camp in Ft Dix and I finally got an email from him this afternoon saying he was there and safe. I was so grateful to hear from him because I really thought it would be awhile before he emailed or called or anything. He said that he has a bit more of a ways to travel and once he gets where he is supposed to be going he would check on the internet and everything. I'm trying so hard to get past this drained, nauseous feeling but its just super deep. Sometimes I can let it go for a few hours and it doesn't always hurt as much, but it really never does go away as most of you know. I hate that feeling of missing all the memories with him such as the holidays and birthdays and everything It hurts so gosh darn bad!! I wish I knew more about the location he was at. Gotta love the unknowns...NOT! I miss him so much. I'm trying to look at this as a way of he is there and each day he is there is a day closer to him coming home. He will be there until August 2011. I just can't sleep without feeling him behind me, and all I really want to do is cry most of the time. I know I need to pull myself together, and honestly this is me venting because no one here in my family really understands what I'm going through. I know it will all be ok and my other half will be home soon safe. If anyone knows someone stationed in Kuwait, I would love any info I could get! Everything will be ok..

I know how you feel. My fiance has been in Bahrain since March.
It is easier for me, I would guess, because he and I have both been in the military for about 12 years. That and I have been to Bahrain, so I know a little about what it is like.

The first week is the hardest-- hands down. It gets better as you get used to it. It doesn't get good, really, but it gets better.
Is he stationed in Kuwait? or is he following on to somewhere else?

Have you heard of Skype? If not, look into it. It is the best thing to have in this type of situation. I talk to Bill almost every day on Skype.

Don't stop missing him. Don't stop thinking of him. Don't stop praying for him. Send him cards and letters often and for no reason. Try to support him as best you can.

The important thing-- and I say this knowing nothing else about you or him-- is that he doesn't want you to sit around moping for him. He wants you to get out and enjoy life and have fun. It sounds hard now, but try. He wants to hear about the fun things you do. I pass the time planning the wedding (and bug him with all the details on Facebook.) It makes him happy because it makes me happy.

It is going to be hard. It is going to suck. But it is going to end. Not soon enough-- it is never soon enough-- but keep counting the days.

My most important piece of advice-- never end a conversation without ending it with 'I love you'. Regardless if you talk twice a day or once a month, always make 'I love you' the last thing he hears.
