Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Moving to Great Lakes Area IL
#1 Why cant I move out before graduation, not much before just maybe a week or so? And if I do move out before graduation will they pay for it still? I dont want to go out there and then have to leave again We have a 2 year old daughter and she is relizing daddy isnt around and that is killing me. She came up to me today whining that she wanted to go when I finally got a where she said wanna go see daddy. After we are there I dont really want us to be seperated again.
#2 looking for a good area to move to. My husband said about Kenesha, WI, but is that travel feasible when he will be going to school in Great Lakes?
#3 How does all this moving work with the Navy paying for it? How much and What if I want to do it myself will they just reimberse?
Any advice would be much appriciated

You can't have the Navy move you before graduation because your husband is attached to RTC, which does not authorize the move. You need to wait until he reports into the school side of base, TSC, which is when his dependents would be authorized to move.
Kenosha isn't that far, but it isn't close either. Base housing, which isn't on base, is an option for students. Check in the AECF group, there are discussions there by spouses who have moved there and they will have suggestions.
Moving yourself is called a Personally Procured Move. There are guidelines to follow to be properly re-imbursed. Call the Great Lakes Personal Property Office and ask them what steps to take. I don't have the number, but google does.

I live in Kenosha and for 6 years did the drive to base and back every day, my husband still does it. There are times it is ok, and takes maybe 30-45 min to get to base, and then when the snow is bad it can take 2 hours or more. The Navy doesn't care if you live off base, they don't have snow days for students they go to school when they have school. Even if you do move up here, it isn't like you will be able to have him home every night right away as he will have to phase up. Also you MUST have two cars or you have to drive him and pick him up ever day. Gas isn't cheap right now it is $3.09 and driving back and forth to base, you would use a lot of gas.
As far as the separation, sorry to say, you and your daughter are going to have to get used to it as it is going to happen for the next 6 years, over and over.
If you move your self before he is able to move you up here odds are he will not get the money back.

Thanks for all the information. I guess we will wait. I know we are gonna have to get used to being away from him. I guess it gets easier as time goes on. Is there any other good places to live nearby the school that I can start loking? On a normal day I wouldnt be worried about the drive time on a normal day we live pretty far from everything so we are used to the price of gas and the driving. I would be worried about the long drive to school when there is snow. We will be getting a new car with 4-wheel drive when we get out there.
