My boyfriend just left for Boot Camp yesterday 02/10/2016

My boyfriend just left for boot camp yesterday and I miss him already. I'm 18 and in college, and when we weren't able to see each other we always talked. We've been together for a year and a half and I know he's the one for me. I am having a really hard time dealing with him being gone. We've never went a day without talking and I'm really hoping I'll hear from him soon. I really need advice on how to deal with this. This is all new to me and I want to be supportive as possible, but it's hard to hide my emotions. I've cried nonstop days before he left and now even worse that he's gone. If anyone could give me advice as to how I cope with this new life, that would be really appreciated. I've tried talking to friends about it. But they just don't know what I'm feel and it's not really helping. I am proud of him and want to show it without brining him down from crying. Can anyone help me?

My boyfriend left 01/11/2016, I know how it feels. I literally felt the same way and still do. It gets easier. For me writing him letters everyday worked and staying busy.
How often have you heard from him? I plan on staying busy to make time past, I find myself thinking about him nonstop. So it's been a month that your boyfriend left, has the time seem like it's going fast for you? Sorry for all the questions, I just really want to learn how to deal with his absents, considering he'll be gone even longer when he goes to A school.
It's fine. I've heard from him 3 times so far twice in a letter and one phone call. I got my first letters last Friday and I just got more letters today and last Sunday I got about a 4 minute phone call. Time has been going by fast, it feel like short days but long weeks if that makes sense.
Yes it does. Thank you for your help. Hopefully it will get easier for me.
No problem. You can reach out to me if you want to talk or if you have any more question.
Hi Ladasha,

My boyfriend left on 01/06/2016 and it was really rough. I cried like 2 or 3 times and he hadn't even left yet. I know it feels like you're lost and you keep looking at your phone for a text or call; but hang in there it gets better. Writing him will definitely make you feel close to him and don't be afraid to write now even though you don't have his address. Write often he will look forward to hear about your day. Try to remember that this isn't easy for him either, even though it may feel like you're worse off than him. Be as encouraging and supportive as you can in your letters. Try staying busy and devote time to your friends and family. I'm not going to tell you that the time will fly by because some days are going to be a drag; but you can make it through. My guy doesn't graduate for 2 more weeks and I'm counting down every second. Feel free to reach out to me to talk if you need to vent to someone who can relate.
Thank you so much. I already feel like I'll be miserable while he's away. I've already staring writing to him to keep him updated throughout the day and let him know that I'm soon we'll and proud of him(even though every time I think of him I can't help but cry) I pray that it'll get easier on me. I'll make sure each letter is uplifting and I'll try to stay busy for time to pass. Thank you again for the info and encouragement. It's just hard now, because we're going from speaking everyday to not at all. It's a tough transition for me and I'm trying to be as strong as possible.
Yes it is a very tough transition and only those who's been through it understand. I still have time when I get sad and cry. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 3 years and we have spent most of that tine together everyday. He is my rock, my best friend, my heart; but this was something that he really wanted to do so I supported him. Girl trust me, I know you feel almost empty inside but it will get better. Not saying you'll miss him less; but it won't hurt as bad. I know I felt hollow for a few days after he left. I was incomplete. I am in nursing school so that helped and I have a friend who's husband was in the Navy so she was able go help me. By the way, its okay to cry. Cry as much as you need to. Crying will help you.
Thank you. It feels nice to know that I'm not going through this alone. That is exactly how I feel about my guy and how I feel now. Empty. I know I'll be sad and crying for a while, but I know each day that goes by is another day closer to seeing him. I know I can make it. It's just a rough path.
You're absolutely correct. The path is long, hard and rough; but duable. You can reach out to me anytime with questions or concerns. Oh, I found that watching shows that he likes helped me as well. Before he left he started watching Doctor Who on Netflix and I never had any interest in it; but in those first few weeks watching it helped me feel close to him. It also allowed me to have something to talk about in a few of my letters. He told me that he likes that I'm keeping him current on his shows.
That's great advice. I'll definitely start that. It'll kill time and I can feel close to him. Thank you so much. I really needed this.
You're very welcome. I've been where you are and it is definitely nice to have aomeone who relates to talk to. If you don't mind me asking what school do you go to?
