For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

First off she needs to speak to a Recruiter, if she hasnt taken the asvab test they may schedule her to do so. The Navy requires a minimum ASVAB score of 35 to enlist in the regular Navy. Only a 31 is required for Naval Reserve, but you will need a 50 at least if you only have a General Education Diploma (GED).
BASIC OBLIGATIONS
When deciding whether to serve in the Navy, you should consider some basic obligations, such as time commitment and training.
SERVICE COMMITMENT
The amount of time you are required to serve on Active Duty depends upon many factors, including your interests, background, pursuit of an Officer or Enlisted position, or whether or not you are taking advantage of Navy education opportunities.
- Enlisted positions typically require an initial service commitment of four years, but positions involving longer-term training may involve longer service obligations
- Officer positions typically require an initial service commitment of three to five years, but positions involving longer-term training may involve longer service obligations
ENLISTED BASIC TRAINING
If you’ve never served in the military before and are entering as an Enlisted Sailor, you will need to first attend Recruit Training, which is also known as Boot Camp.
OFFICER TRAINING
Unless you're entering as an Officer through certain college programs - specifically the Naval Academy or NROTC - you will need to attend an Officer training course, known as Officer Candidate School (OCS) or Officer Development School (ODS). Depending on your career path, you may also attend additional specialty schooling.

She took the mini ASVAB test yesterday and scored @29 so they said she should definitely pass the full test. We meet again Monday to talk to the recruiter. Shes a senior in h.s. so she still has time

She's half way there Momma, now to take the test and decide what she wants to do. I'm going to put this site down for you and her to look over. these are the PFA standards and what needs to be passed. so she can start working on that now.
