Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My PIR experience
Questions answered.
I was sitting around yesterday and remembered how horribly stressed I was before my husbands PIR. I had so many questions, which I got a lot of answers to from this site (thank you!) But i thought how great it would have been to have it all in one place instead of googling everything and only getting half answers. SO, I wrote a blog about my experience. What to wear, things to do, places to eat in the area. Just things I wish I would have at least had knowledge of when I traveled to great lakes for PIR.
My Navy PIR experience: What you need to know
In no way is this everything one would need to know, but its a start. A year ago, I knew nothing about the navy, and had no idea what to expect. I searched and searched for a blog that had this information and didn't quite find it. So I hope it helps at least one of you feel a little bit more prepared!

Thank you so much for your blog post. My son's PIR is 12/12 and I shared your story with my daughter and my son's GF because they are both stressing about what to wear, Mom is stressing about a whole lot of other things :)
Anyway, I also shared your story with others in our PIR group because a young woman was wondering what to wear as well. Everyone is raving about how helpful it is so THANK YOU!

My son just left for boot camp, but I am thankful for your blog regarding PIR. I can plan a few things, even thought he will be going somewhere else for A school. thanks again the information is helpful.
