Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My Son Arrives Tomorrow
My husband and I became empty nesters today.
While I feel ecstatic for my son, I'm also feeling glum. I remind myself that my brother got thru Navy Boot Camp; therefore, my son can also! It's not easy letting go of the youngest child, although I am HAPPY for him. He's been talking about the military for quite some time now.
I know that he's nervous. Said his belly hurt this morning & he texted me a while ago saying that he'll be in bed before 20:00 tonight. They're supposed to be up by 4 am.
I didn't see much activity on the BC forum page. Hope it's ok to post here.
I am a Facebook junkie. Is there a page there that I should check out?
I look forward to chatting here too, and learning all that I can about the Navy and Boot Camp!

Welcome Jackie glad to have you along, Congrats to your son and his New Journey. Me and my Husband are also empty nesters are son was the Baby of the family, he is attending Great lakes A school. here are a few sites that you can join. and also the facebook pages.
Are there any official RTC sites?
Yes, check out https://www.facebook.com/NavyRecruitTrainingCommand and http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/. They will have lots of information for you. https://www.facebook.com/NavalServiceTraining also has items at times.
https://www.facebook.com/ASBPGreatLakes has pics of some of the recruits who give blood while at the RTC. Those donations occur about 2 weeks (10 to 16 days depending on the division) before PIR.

When will "The Box" come?
It will usually arrive by FedEx within a few days, but it can take up to 2 weeks at times.

Thank you so much for all the info, and for the warm welcome!!! Means A LOT.
Our son is the "baby" also. He graduated high school last spring.
He will be @ Great Lakes for A school. He said 48 weeks for A, and (I think) 48 weeks for C; so a total of two years. We're only 2+ hours away, in Indiana. I like that.
We drove up to the base a couple of months ago to have a look around. We didn't have an appt. so could not get "in." But it was good to get a feel for Great Lakes. We met two retired guys, one living in IL and the other was visiting with his wife from Texas. Talked to them for a good while.
We're happy for him (Peter) & excited to "see" him again @ Graduation. Praying he makes it!!! Not really worried, but knowing that some drop out or are kicked out ... the unknown is unsettling. Our son is a "good" boy, but with this being a new rigorous experience, I feel anxious about it. I know that he does too.

You are welcome, my son enlisted his Jr. year of high school so his mind was made up. My son is attending A school in Great Lakes, how he is handling the cold is beside me, we are from Phoenix, AZ and we never get a real winter here. My son Graduated sept. 1st many changes. Some second guess themselves because it is not what they thought it would be, but that when the encouragement and being strong for them comes in. Your son will do fine. Basically its the Not knowing that will probably get at you. But here it is said No News is Good News. Hope to hear from you soon and again welcome. You will find a lot of Amazing Wonderful Ladies on this site, maybe even a friend for Life. Have a Great Evening
