my son leaves 9/23 to MEPS and then boot camp 9/24. He is older than the other SR's that I have been reading about

Wow, it seems like a lot of the kids are 18.  My SR's is also older and leaving the same day.  I am having such a hard time with this, I couldn't imagine how I would be if he was any younger.

My son just turned 18 and leaves for MEPS the 22nd and RTC on the 23rd. He will be in an 800 Division for Divers.

My son will be going to MEPS 9/23 and then to Boot Camp 9/24 so it looks like our kids will be there at the same time :) It seems like just yesterday we had 4 months until he leaves and now it is down to less than 2 weeks...he is so ready to go but not sure I am ready lol

My son it 18 as well.  He goes to MEPS on9/22 and leaves on 9/23.  I am a little nervous for him.  Of course he isn't, but I am.  I hope he does well since this will be his first time away from home for such a long period of time.

Stacey, I'm right there with you.
Stacey Mine is exactly the same age and dates. He has only been away for a week and a half on his Sr trip.
My son is 18...leaving for MEPS on 9/22 and leaving Dallas on 9/23. He had his last official meeting with his recruiter on Tuesday and came home looking a little worried. I think it's finally starting to get real for him.
Brandonsmom. My son too. Same age and dates from AL.
He is my youngest. My other son, who is 21, is also in the process of enlisting in the Navy. This next year is gonna be a roller coaster.

Hi, my son also leaves for MEPS on the 23rd and BC on the 24th.   I can't believe how close it's getting.  Kyle is so happy and all smiles and I just think to myself, I'm not ready to let you go.

I totally get it KylesMom. My biggest fear is they lose that "happy-go-lucky" quality they have.  I know they say he will become a man but I am not ready for that.
