For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son left today for GL
Well, today was the day my son left for GL, although I am proud I have never felt like a part of me is missing.
As hard as it was for me to walk away, I know that it's not forever, it's for a better life.
I pray he has his angels to watch over him on this chapter in his life.

(((hugs))) I know exactly what your feeling. My son leaves in June, but i also have a son in the USAF, and a son in the USMC! My boys are covering the air and land....and now the sea as well! Lean on others for support. write, write, write him letters. I started writing the day each of my boys left and by the time i had an address to send them to, there was a lot of them. I would just start writing in the morning, and add to the letters as the day went on. By the end of the day, it was a 2 page letter ready to mail. Both my boys said that getting the letters was the best thing i could do for them! And throw yourself into a hobby. I work everyday so that gave me something to focus on, but i also developed a love for cooking...who'd a thunk it? and it helped keep me sane! Congradulations to you and your son! and I'm here if you need to talk. I know nothing about the Navy (i'm just learning now) but, i'm becoming a pro at staying sane while one of my boys is in boot!

Thank you. My son was due to leave in May then called 3 weeks ago and said Mom, they changed my job and I can leave this month! I was not ready at all, but he was and I am sad but excited to see how he grows with the Navy. Koodos to you with all your boys in the service. Amazing! I will for sure chat anytime I can, I work 8-5 M-F so I'm not on here much, I also have a son in high school and he plays for the baseball team so that will keep me busy with practice and games.
Thanks for the support and by the time your son leaves, I can help you on your navy journey!

:) thank you! I work 12-14 hr days 6-7 days a week so i pop on whenever i can, but at least once a day. I learned when my first boy went to Lackland AFB that these groups are amazing and necessary. My Marine is in his 5th week in boot (with 7 more to go) so for me its a double whammy, but I am so proud! My name is Micki!

My son left from the Raleigh MEPS station on the same day. I know how you feel. I am trying to adjust to being a Navy mom. He is my first born and I am so proud of him and I know he will do well. I have 2 younger kids at home 10/8 and I work FT so I too keep very busy but I think about him all through the day and wonder what he is doing from moment to moment. The video's have helped me a lot. Getting an idea of what he may be doing from one day to the next is helpful. I wish I had his address and was very disappointed when he wasn't able to give it to me during his last phone call before shipping his phone back. I am hoping he has a chance to write on Sunday and will be able provide his address. I am enjoying this site as well. I just got "approved" so I will be on whenever I can. I believe knowledge is power and having a good support team is critical and I hope this site and community of navy moms can provde me with both.

My son that left is my first born also, he will actually turn 21 in BC :( I miss him so much, I too have a younger son at home, 15 he misses him so much it hurts me :( I also work m-f and my son being in high school and playing baseball, we stay busy for the most part. At night is when it gets hard. My son used to work alot at night so when he did come in I would go in his room and see how his day went, so I miss that alot.
My son is going into aircrew, yours? I just pray he does well in BC, as a mom, I just worry :(
Being on this site helps so much to learn about others experiences through BC so we have an idea of what our kids might go through

My son is going to be an Engineman(EN). He turns 21 is August. I received his box on Friday and I was hoping there would be something there with an address to write him or a sticky note with an address but there was nothing. I am so hoping that he had an opportunity to write on yesterday. I just want to know he is doing ok. My husband keeps explaining the world of the military to me and I am trying to understand the process they are putting them through but as a mom I just want to hear my son's voice. I know in my heart that he is ok but as you said....as a mom...I worry.
This and other sites are helping me a lot. It is good to have the support of others.

I'm right there with you! My husband left last wednesday. It is hard to explain the feelings of emptiness I have. This may sound strange but once I got the "final call" a weight was lifted and I felt much better. I think the anticipation of that last call overwhelmed me so much but once I received it I felt much better. Here it is Sunday and the time has passed quickly so I pray the rest of the time does as well!

It is an empty feeling, I just pray for them that the time goes by just as fast so they don't have time to miss home. I know when I got the "final call" my son sounded so tired. Made me sad that he sounded tired but I was also happy just to get "the call"

Hi Monica,
My son just left yesterday....very sad. I got the call this morning at 1:30 and was relieved. He sounded tired but good and he made it through the snow storm! I cry at the weirdest times but I'm hoping it gets better. I'm so proud of him and I think he'll love it...I just hate being out of touch!

I know the feeling of being sad, and the 130am call is even worse becasue you hear the tired in them..
I also cry at the strangest times, it has been a week and the hardest thing so far for me was getting the box with all his stuff, I cried like a baby..
I know it will get better it just hurts that a part of you is missing..
