Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

He called me from his cell phone and it lasted 31 seconds but I did receive his box today.  I miss him like crazy but I am so proud of him and his decision to join the Navy.

We haven't gotten another call yet. I hope for another letter today. Mom Strong!
This is my first entry , not sure what I'm doing? but my Son went to boot camp August 25th, I have spoke to him three times. Once to say he made it, 2nd for references of friends for back ground check (for security clearance) and 3rd for his half sisters middle name. I can't wait to see him, October 21st he graduates. There are no words how proud I am......

1. Join the this group where there are others with same PIR date.

           PIR: October 21, 2011     TG 49 -  7 Divisions (349-354, 949)

2. Join the New Moms Stop Here group. On the group's main display, you'll find 10 references PAGES located just underneath the member photos. Go through each of the PAGES - you'll find videos, links, a survival manual, acronyms, pearls of wisdom, etc.

More later.

My son left 10/27/11 and I got his box 2 days ago. I got the PIR letter today with a quick note from my son telling me he hates it.....talk about heartwrenching for a mom. My gut tells me he's tired and overwhelmed and hasn't adjusted yet but that in the end he'll be happy. The worry never stops does it?

The first few weeks are the toughest--for them and for you.  Just breathe and keep (or start) sending those letters to him.  If this is truly what he wants, then he will step up to the challenge.  Join New Moms Stop Here and check out the Pages and Discussions there.  Since you know your SR’s PIR date, go to GROUPS: Listed By PIR Date - Pass In Review (Boot Camp Graduation) and click on the date and join the group for that.

Did you mean he left on 9/27/11? My daughter left on that day with PIR on Nov 18, 2011. I got her box a few days ago and her letter the following day. What Ship and Div is your son in?
My Boyfriend left for Basic Training on September 22, 2011!  He's in Division 004, anyone else?!
Join the Group, PIR 11/18/2011 TG 01 — 07 Divisions (001–006 & 901), to connect with others with loved ones who are training with your SR.
I cannot join this group for some reason.  I will try again.
It looks like it worked for you. :o)
It did! Thanks!!
I received the first phone call he earned by some kind of division reward, he has only two weeks left & his confidence is so good to here. I can't wait to go to graduation. He said he doesn't know if he is a grad and go??? hopefully I get to spend a little bit of time with him. :)
