While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Navy Achievement Medal (NAM) --- questions
Hi everyone.. I have not been on N4M for quite some time. Wondered if anyone can give me some information on the NAM. My son said he was just written up to receive this medal. We are thrilled & I have some questions:
Do the parents get notified by the Navy of this award?
How soon is this usually determined and.....
What are the chances of the sailor, once written up, actually receiving this once it goes up the ladder for approval?
Is the NAM as prestigious and hard to get as I have been reading?
Will it help my sailor advance to E4 that much easier?
Is there usually an award ceremony?

Being written up for it and getting it are two different things.
Regarding the parents being notified..not by the command. The Sailor needs to notifiy you of anything that happens after bootcamp.
It could be months before they decide if he gets the awards.
Chances... to many factors to say.
Sorry no the NAM isn't as prestigious or as hard to get as it used to be, almost everyone gets one at a command.
It may help him advance as it gives him 2 points on the test.
Yes there is normally an awards cermoney for the award...it isn't anything fancy though...so unless you live in the area I wouldn't recommend you fly out to go to it.

Now that you say he has only been ther 8 months and getting a NAM...That is good! That doesn't happen very much...people normally get a NAM when they transfeer from the command. Even if it doesn't get approved, it shows that he has shown his chain of command (bosses) that he is a hard charger and good at his job!

Hi again.. yes, I think his CO is partial to his work ethics. He saved the command 18K by transferring surplus supplies from one base to his. He is a Corpsman, but also has the duty to order supplies for his medical facility. Keeping fingers crossed. Thanks again!
