Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

Navy Fiance here, in need of some info and advice..
Okay so I am going to try to explain this as simply as possible with out confusing anyone..lol
so my sailor is stationed in Hawaii and just got there in Dec...he is an E3 and we are engaged and want to get married in a couple of months when I go out there to visit him for a week :-)
His sub is stationed in Hawaii now but will be moving to Guam In Oct 2011 (10 months)
I have received bites and peices of info on what to do and still im confused...
our plan is this:
to get married in hawaii while i am there on vacation and than I will come back here to Connecticut in the US and stay here and than move with him to Guam. so that we can save up some money.
sooo will that be okay...will i still be able to move with him to Guam in oct even if im not living with him in Hawaii?
if anyone has any info they could tell me or who to contact and where i would be sooo thankful.

I agree with you Monica,
Per MILPERSMAN 1300-302, under Policy 1B, it states that E3's can't bring their dependants. Yes, they grant waivers all the time, but they are not required to approve them. So it is very possible that Submarinewifey might not be living with her husband for even after they are married for up to 2 to 3 years.

I had a young married E2 on my website. He got unaccompied orders to Japan. The family tried and tried, but they could never get approval for the wife to move. It ended up that he serve 19 months in Japan without his wife and kids, then ended getting discharged for a fraudulent enlistment when they did a security clearance check on him. He had failed to report a bankruptcy before he joined the Navy. A totally sad situation all around.

well right now he is an E3 but come June he will be an E4...would that make it a better chance to go to guam? ;-( he will be leaving for guam in oct and will be an E4 in june so could i be able to go..

He should not have a problem going to Guam with you, as long as you pass your overseas screening, which is really simple as long as he's an E4.....

The major expense could be that the Navy will not pay for her move. His orders are unaccompanied, so he will need to apply for sponsorship of an acquired dependent. He needs to check this out shortly after the marriage.
While a passport is not needed for Guam, I would strongly suggest getting one. You never know where you will end up.

would he be able to change his orders to accompained or married instead of unaccompained/single? so if we get married now being an E3 will they allow us to try to get command sponsorship in June when he is an E4 or should we try now when we get married..I dont mind paying for my move to Guam is the navy wont pay..I would just like to be able to go with him. But we would like to get married now so we can get everything all figured out before he goes to Guam in October..thank you all for your advice :-)

Wifey - You're not thinking about the way the Navy thinks. Yes, you could move yourself to Guam, but could you also afford paying medical, dental, housing? I don't think you would get command sponsorship to live on base and rent is extremely expensive, and I don't beleive you would get OHA to offset the cost. So unless your loaded with $$$$$$, you won't be able to live there comfortable......
However, you have said stuff above that has got me thinking. Is your BF already a frocked E4? If so, then he's entitled to all benefits of the new rate, except the pay. So, if he's frocked, I would think he is eligible already. It sounds like he might be since June is usually the last increment of getting paid for E4.

Even the E-5s must go through budget counseling to live off base in Guam. It is almost as expensive as Japan, from what I've been reading.

hey my and my fiance are going through the same thing right now. i know that he is going to send me some paperwork for my medical screening and then we get command sponsorship and i will be able to move over there with him right now. honestly i think its better to find stuff out on your own cause sometimes the people on this website can be truthful but very harsh about hings they say. it is possible for you move with him to guam. im actually going to be living there too so maybe we can help each other out a little bit.
