Hello, I am new to this site, and my son is going to Boot camp on March 1st,2011.  Upon graduation he is entering Nuclear Propulsion A school afterwards.  I can't seem to get any information from the Navy as to when Nuke school is starting.  since they said they only have classes starting when there are enough candidates joining this program we have no idea where he will go or even a graduation date from boot camp in Great lakes.  Does anyone else have this situation that has found any information as to a graduation date, as well as how long it may take for him to start A school in Charleston??????   Thanks so much & for creating this site.   Blessings to all our men, women & families

My son in Nuke and arrived March 1 at Boot camp.  It is so confusing and overwhelming trying to figure it all out.  Just letting you know you are not alone! We are waiting for his form letter telling us his division so I can mail him letters!

Hi Deke,

My son left for BC on March 7th, and is also heading for the nuke program. There is so much information out there, but I am with you. I just can't wait for the letter letting me know what ship/div. etc he is assoicated with. I have read that sometimes you can contact the recruiter and they may have tha info already. Not sure, but I am getitng anxious enough to check..lol....they will be ok deke...this whole thing is a very long process, so just sit back and enjoy the ride on this wonderful journey with him. I watch the boot camp videos on this website when I need to calm my nerves. For some reason, it helps.....He will also be able to speak with you more about the nuke stuff when he graduates BC, so you won't be as much in the dark about that program as we are right now.....Praying for you and your son....Smile, n' take care!

Ladies, scroll back to the previous comments posted (earlier comments) and CLICK ON THE LINKS. It'll take you to other sites or groups about being a nuke in the Navy. If you haven't you should save the links in a file (like a Microsoft WORD file. Then you can always find them. If you are just starting boot camp, please concentrate on getting your recruit through boot camp first. One step at a time.

For those in boot camp or going to boot camp. Here is the link to the survival guide we put together - it contains information that will take you from beginning to end - you'll see videos, diagrams, links - Survival Guide for Navy For Moms Newbie
