OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Is Navy Week in Chicago going to take place at Navy Pier or Waukegan? I checked the link and it looks like there will be events at both locations.  When is the schedule going to be final?
@Lisa, we hope to have a rough schedule of events soon.  There will be activities and events downtown, and also, Naval Station Great Lakes (located just south of Waukegan) is celebrating its 100th anniversary!  Visit www.navyweek.org for the latest information on Chicago and all 2011 Navy Weeks.
thanks for the reply.  I'll keep checking the site.
My husband and I were aboard the USS American Victory on Jan 21st to hear the Navy Dixie Land Band they were awesome!  Thank you for coming to Tampa, FL

Hi, I'm the administrator for the Philadelphia area Navy Mom's group here on N4M's. I have several moms that are interested in helping out if there are volunteer opportunities available.

Pat if you call us at NAVCO, we would be glad to give you the information you need to get in touch with the proper personnel who can help with this volunteer question you have.  Our number is 901 874 7050.  Anytime would be fine but you're more likely to get in touch with someone between the hours of 1330 and 1630 (130 pm - 430 pm) Central Standard Time.  Here is a news story that was done recently announcing the release of Calendar for America.  Navy Weeks are included in that calendar.  One of the Navy Moms from Chatanooga area was kind enough to participate in the interview please check it out via the link below.

Mississippi and Austin Navy Weeks run from the middle until the end of March. Mississippi's Navy Week is the only one this year to focus on an entire state.  To keep up to date with Mississippi Navy Week log onto:

In Austin keep an eye out for the Navy Parachute team, Leap Frogs and the Washington D.C. Navy Band, Country Current who will perfom at South by Southwest Interactive.
