OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Need info badly, hubby graduated BESS oct. 8th...still no orders:(

Hello everyone,

Please if you  have any info on how long we should expect to get our orders, I live in KY and my husband is in CT...we have a 5 month old and would love to be a family again.  We are still waiting on our orders to there, and no one can give us any information ....please help...

He could be on hold for months waiting for orders.

You should get a hold of his community detailer. He can talk to his Command Career Counselor for that information. I can't believe that he would be on hold that long if he has completed his training as the fleet is undermanned. The below explains how to get in touch with his detailer. Provided he doesn't have much bargaining power as he is newly from a training command but at least he can find out where he is going to go. Feel free to ask about it by the Ship he desires rather then a location. You can look up the Ship's by location at the base websites.

Due to website personnel security requirements, the FTS detailer contact information requires login to view. To log into the Navy Personnel Command website, you should follow the below instructions:

Login to https://www.bol.navy.mil using your CAC card.
Then click on Navy Personnel Command (around the middle of the BOL page).
When the NPC web page opens, you should click on the "Login" hyperlink in the upper right corner. This should log you in without further need for usernames or passwords.
Once you are logged into the NPC website, the "Contact Info" hyperlink will be visible under "Full Time Support Detailers" on the left side menu. "

Thank you so much for all of the information...he has contacted the Career Counselor and Fleet and Family Support among others,..instructors, Master Chief, etc..and no one has any real answers still. They are saying it's the end of the fiscal year but the orders should be here anytime..every week they say the same things. "Just give it a couple more weeks."

We are really hoping to get there before Christmas, ....he is still in school, so it's not an issue of him being there for training..it's that we need to move out to be together but can't afford it now - so with the orders the Navy would take care of the move.

If you have any other advice, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I wasn't able to get on the website..I'm not sure what the CAC card is?

CAC card is his military ID.

Detailers issue orders so they are the source to the solution of your issue.

If he is just on hold, then at the least he will be home for Christmas if he takes leave. This may be better then him getting orders, since if his boat is going out on deployment then there is the chance that he will be gone for the next 6 months. There is also the chance that he will have duty on Christmas as he will likely be 3 section duty rotation, meaning that he will be on the boat for 24 hours every third day.

Have your husband access the website and contact his detailer to try and get his orders pushed through.

This was by far one of the BEST...answers I've had. Thank you! He did contact his detailer ...didn't do too much good. The detailer he got ahold of said the one writing orders for the sailors in his group had a stack of papers on his desk and if he didn't have orders within the next 3 weeks to call him back and he would try to take care of it. Not the best news, but it's something and promising:) And sometimes, alll you need is a little hope to get you through the day:!
