For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Missey - you've come to the right place! Be sure to join the boot camp group - I left the link in the Welcome message on your page. You'll find lots of valuable information there - and once you know your son's PIR (graduation date) you can join the group for that. The official letter usually takes anywhere from 9-14 days to arrive. In the meantime keep your phone handy and answer ALL calls you get. And remember, no news is good news!

Hi, my son left on the 30th. I spoke to him before he left for plane to Boot Camp and knew about the short call, thank goodness it was so weird, I kind of giggled knowing. I am looking forward to first correspondence!

My son left yesterday too and I didn’t realize how emotional this was going to be for me. I held it together for him yesterday because I can be a little Beverly Goldberg at times and I knew that was not what he needed. He called so late and I had dozed off so I feel like I completely screwed up the call last night. I know that this is such a good thing for him, but am really struggling today. I just put his sheets in the wash and am trying to also do my work that I have been slacking on all week. I probably shouldn’t have worked from home today, but didn’t feel like putting on a fake smile for people in the office. Sorry for the sad post. I am sure that this will get easier. I am glad to have found this place so I can chat with people going through the same feelings as I am.
How soon do do people start booking tickets for the graduation? I was told nine weeks from today, but to make sure that they are refundable. Does anyone have a suggestion on airlines? I know Southwest is easy, but are there others that might also work?

Hi! I hope that your days get better. I know the feeling that you’re feeling. My son left for Bootcamp on Monday and I have laid in his room and cried each day since he’s been away. I find peace in knowing that he is off trying to build a life for himself and doing what he wants to do. However I still miss him so very much.
You will receive a package from your son that will include his graduation date within the next week. From there you can make airline reservations and travel arrangements. I’m new to this experience as well but I will share with you what I know so far. Please don’t hesitate to ask. Also it helps to think of fun times that will make you smile :) Good luck with everything!

You will receive a box with your sons things in it within a week or so after his arrival. The form letter with his division number and PIR date usually arrive within 9 -14 days, and in some cases a little longer.

Hi Vegas mom. I had the same meltdown it sounds like you had. I tried to hold it together and lost it after my son left my sight at the airport. I was trying to record his voice and feel like I missed the whole last call. He’s my baby and a mamas boy and I am struggling. I have been crying for days. Everything wrecks me. Chocolate chip cookies. His favorite. Music we listened to. I really don’t know how to do this. Maybe finding that other moms are struggling too. :). So thank you to all of you.

Day by day I guess and remembering no news is good news helps. I got his box today, but am afraid to open it. I had a very nice chat with a friend of mine Sunday. He made me feel better and I have already started a letter to my son that I will send once I get the information. My daughter was supposed to come for dinner tonight, but got called into work. Not sure if the BF is staying home or doing his usual Tuesday night poker, but I almost want to wait until I am completely alone to open the box. I joked that I was going to text messages to me from his phone to make me feel better.
Hopefully everyone is doing better with the changes. I know this weekend will be rough. We are going to one of his favorite places on the river. It was his last weekend request and I left a dollar on the wall at a bar with his congratulations for joining the Navy written on it. I am looking forward to the day when we are both there and can look at it together again.
