For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hi Christian, I'm right there with you. I think the first week is probably the hardest. Today was especially difficult, not sure why.... I've got a pile ready to go already, as does my daughter, who's missing her little brother like crazy.
I think once we have a better idea of when PIR is and an address to write it'll make things a little easier. I would take the advice that lemonelphant gave. There is a lot of great information on the site, but i think the best is being able to talk and vent to eachother.

Tara my husband is telling me their PIR will most likely be 5/3 and they will be in TG25 we will have to wait on our form letters to confirm that. I know that doesn't help with letters because we have to wait for their Ship/Div and address but for me any info at all is comforting

My son figured his PIR would be 5/3 but yes, i would wait for full information. things sometimes change when they get there.
Any news helps. I'm waiting for the box and form letter too.

Thanks so much lemonelephant we are so fortunate to have you here to help with all our questions and Tara you may get your box tomorrow my son arrived 3/5 and I got his today. I can hardly wait to get the form letter, I also have letters waiting to send.

Hi! My son arrived in Chicago on 3/4. We received a call from him when he landed in Chicago and then a brief phone call saying he made it to boot camp and it would be 3 weeks before we heard from him again.

Have you received his box yet? I'm still waiting on mine. Hoping to get it in the next day or so. I would live to hear from my son but I worry that it would make homesickness even worse.

My boyfiend's parents received his box today! They said an envelope was in it the box but they haven't read it yet! I'm anxiously waiting to see what was in he envelope.

I hope it's the form letter but I think lemonelephant is prob right. There was an envelope in mine too but it's what his papers were in that he got from his recruiter and MEPS. Good luck! I just my son's box today too.

- Yes we received his box and i cried like a baby when i opened it i was,not expecting that reaction but emotions took over. it is hard not hearing from him but i agree with you it would make it harder if we were able to talk. This is all so new to me im trying to learn as much as i can from this site. i guess i wont receive a letter for at least two more weeks with his address. however, ive been writing him letters so i can send them as soon as i receive his address. i apologize for all the errors in my messages. im using my kindle and i find its not as easy to use as a computer. did you receive his box today? you should be soon.

Hi Kerry, yes I just came home from FedEx to pick up the box. I got emotional just having it in my hands. I was hoping the little s*^t left me a note like I asked but of course he didn't. LOL I knew he wouldn't. I was OK opening the box, what got me next was smelling him when I took his coat out of the box. that was hard. I'm hoping to have the form letter in a day or two but I know it can be longer. Thank God for lemonelephant for the information provided. Really ontop of the coverstions, thankfully!

Hi Tara. Did you receive your form letter? We received ours on 3/11. My son is on Ship 11 Div 165/166. Our PIR date is 4/26. I hope everything is going well. Let me know when you receive your letter. It was 3/16 when we received his call. I washappy he called and to know hes ok but i didnt get to talk to him. He called his Dads cell phone and not the house phone. my husband wasnt home so i could talk. Oh well, good news is hes okay!

Hi Kerry, I recieved his form letter on Thursday the 14th, his box on Tuesday the 12th. We got his call, which was a huge surprise on the 16th too around 6pm. We were lucky that everyone was home and my daughter was able to connect her dad thru the cell (if your husband has an iphone he could do this next time). It was awesome to hear from him but it made me worry more. He did sound good but I could tell it was difficult for him. I guess it's just the mom in me that wants to make everything OK. God help me I would have gone to GL to bring him home! Only kidding, though a big part of me would love to have him home, but he wouldn't be happy in the long run.
