OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

New Navy wife, please help...
I'm sooo upset, my husband and I have been separated for 4 and a half months...which wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have a 5 month old baby at home. He went to basic then straight to BESS in Groton, CT. He graduated BESS Oct. 8th and we are still waiting for orders. They are telling us that it could be due to the fact that this is the end of the Navy's fiscal year so they don't have money to move us at this time.
The dilemma: My husband wants us to pack up the car and move without orders... We live in KY and this is a 17hour drive. I am very tempted to do this, he said he can get a letter to be able to the barracks into housing and they will correct our BAH once I arrive and his food allowance (So he doesn't have to eat at the Galley).
I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this kind of thing? How long does it take for them to correct your BAH? If we moved, would the military pay to move our things after we drove up, upon receiving orders?
I really appreciate any information, since I am in the dark and we can't get much out of anyone on base.

Ma'am,
Unless you are under orders the Navy will not pay for your move.
You can move into Navy housing only if your husband is designated to be stationed at that command for a period of greater then 14 weeks.
To change your BAH normally takes one full pay period. If you are planning on living out in town, you will have to come up with all of your move in fees (turn on lights, water, first and last month rent, security deposit, etc).
You may not receive BAS for him as he may still be assigned to eat in the galley if your not actually authorized to be there.
He needs to talk to a Staff member there not just some fellow students that have rumor mill to go on rather then actually Navy instructions.
I recommend that you get into contact with the local FFSC (Fleet and Family Service Center) they are better equipped to talk to you about the local area instructions and what would be available to you. If it is possible for you to move there from the regulations then they can help to arrange all of the move parts and the home for you. Since you haven't posted what area he is in the best way to get in contact with them is through Military One Source.
