For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My son just left for boot camp on 2-2-16. Has any other moms hears from their recruit yet? Feeling a little anxious to find out what ship/division he is on so that I can start mailing letters.

My son just left 2/9 for boot camp. We had our one call when he got to base, but that is it. From what i understand this is normal. we will not hear from them again hopefully until week 3. I say hopefully cause if they call something is wrong. I am not sure how we will find out about divisions and mailing address, Hopefully will be clearly spelled out in first letter. Best of luck to you and your son.

Our son left 1/10. We got the box, then the form letter, a letter from him just last week, but no call yet. We are in a little slump this week:)

Received our letter today!!! Our SR is on Ship 11 DIV 135 graduating 03/25/16. We are so excited to be on this journey with our daughter. She left for boot camp on 2-1-16 so I had been stalking the mailbox for at least a week!

My SR is also on Ship 11 DIV 135, graduating 03/25/16. I am missing my son very much. We received his "I am here" call and received his box of belongings. At this time we have not received a second call. Think I heard it is suppose to be about the 3rd week. I am anxiously waiting to here something from him.

Reasons to wait on The Form Letter before sending letters:
1. The PAO at the RTC asks that loved ones wait on the form letter before mailing letters. See http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/fam_guide.html.
2. The recruiter does not always give the right address and letters that do not have the correct address may be returned or may be delayed several weeks in getting to your recruit since it will not be a high priority for those in the mail room to look up the correct information.
3. Even if you do have the correct information, your recruit will not receive letters that are mailed before receiving the form letter much quicker, if at all, than letters mailed after receiving the form letter because recruits do not receive mail until they are in their permanent ship and a Recruit Mail Petty Officer is trained. The first Mail Call is on day 1-3 or 1-4 DOT.

Note: If it has been at least 2 calendar weeks since your recruit arrived at the RTC and you do not have a form letter, then you can call the recruiter and get the address and mail letters to your recruit, but be sure to double-check the address against those at http://www.bootcamp.navy.mil/contact_recruit.html or Ship/Division--How it Works.

my daughter left 2/9. She is on Ship 11. I've received "the box" and the form letter but can't wait to hear more from her!!

my son left 2/10 to GL and I just received his box yesterday 2/17. Now waiting for that form letter hopefully today or tomorrow. Can't wait to see what division he is in and to start sending those letters. his little brother and sister have started writing in a book ALL the important things they have done so that my sailor won't miss anything. Fingers cross that i receive my letter today..

Finally heard from my SR. What a great day this is....his voice was like an angel!!!! He sounded really good. He did tell me that several in his division was sick. Saying prayers for these recruits!

sll38613 You may have already mentioned, but what Ship and Division is your SR? My SR is Ship 11 Division 135. At this time I have not received a letter from him (Just a form letter at the beginning). I am anxiously waiting to hear from him.

I am really glad to be reading some of the information here. My daughter has one week in at boot camp. I am anxious to hear from her too, or get letters going to her for support. Again, just glad to get some of the information here. Much Love to all the new Navy mom's!!
