For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

My son just left for boot camp on 2-2-16. Has any other moms hears from their recruit yet? Feeling a little anxious to find out what ship/division he is on so that I can start mailing letters.

This coming Monday will start my son's fourth week. I received my first letter from him today but I still haven't gotten a call, except for the one when he arrived at base. This has been excruciatingly painful not hearing or knowing how he's doing.

Relieved our letter early this week. He left for GL on 2/9/16. SR is ship 02, div 922. PIR 4/8/16.

Oh how exciting. I was just reading up on what that 900 division entails. I received a call today, that was wonderful. I hope you have had a chance to speak with your husband.

Our daughter says the can write home only on Sundays. Have enjoyed reading and hearing about life at BC. We were devastated when we missed her call - she tried both out cell phones and we were doing a walkthrough of our new home (downsized now that we are empty nesters).
Really enjoy reading about what they do on a daily basis. Their numbers are dwindling - down about 8% so far.

NavyDad, I'm sorry you missed her call. Yes, recruits can only write during holiday routine on Sundays. See Letter Writing & Fun Stuff/Questionnaires to send to your Recruit.
Each division starts out with an average of 88 recruits and an average of 75 of those will make it to PIR.

Ok....I have a huge dilemma!!! My son's PIR is 4-1-16 & it says 4 guest! We are a family of 5. Does this mean my SR has to decide which sister gets to watch PIR????

Unfortunately, yes. The family will have to work out your dilemma.
The extra family member can take the chance of the RTC chapel being available with live video streaming or remaining at the hotel and watching via the internet from there.

My daughter arrived in GL last night 3.14.16. Today will be day #1 with no communication...I sure hope it gets easier. My emotions are all over the place. My son will be leaving for BC in July! I'm struggling with letting go of both all at once!

I think everyone on this site has shared your same feelings and the emotional roller coaster. The first 2 weeks are tough - writing is a "privilege" for Sundays only. Our daughter just graduated (yeah!). Got her 48 hour liberty and we got to spend time with her in Chicago. She had to be back on base by 22:00. Now has two weeks of indoctrination.
Best to practice relaxation techniques when the stress gets high.

Thanks navy dad. I'm worried about her PIR date because my son graduates from high school on May 5 and the dates could be too close to attend both! I'm praying for her date to be a week later or earlier.
