Hello I am located in Atlanta and my daughter just enlisted. She doesnt ship out til January.
Hello Leela. Nice to meet you. My son is still waiting to complete his enlistment process. He wants to be a SEAL so he has to go through some special physical training evaluation. He's very anxious to get started with his Naval career, so he'll be disappointed if he has to wait that long.
What job did your daughter request?
My daughter wants to be a gunners mate. But she didnt actually get that job. She is in the process of getting her job changed and getting an earlier ship date. But it took my daughter a couple of months to finally get in but its all worth it in the end.
Wow! I know it will be well worth it. I've heard and read so many good things about how transformative a Navy career can be for young people, and honestly I'm looking forward to seeing the transformation. I'm just going to miss my son something awful - my only son and my first born, so it's tough from that perspective.
Yes I do agree. I have an older son but my daughter is my baby. Ive always been a little more over protective of her because she is a girl and the youngest but im really looking forward to her becoming a young woman. I am so proud of her making the decision to join the navy. But there is a lot of support from the ladies on this sight and everyone I know so its gotten a little easier to realize that im one day going to have to let go.
I'm proud of my son too. Our children are going to be wonderful additions to the Navy! Let's keep in touch and keep each other updated on their progress.
Ok will do
I recommend ya'll join the group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/deppersinbutnotyet (if you haven't already) just click on the http address. Here you'll connect with others whose future sailors leave around the same time yours does. Also join the group for your state
Thanks Jessica. Will do. I don't know how parents made it through this process without technology. Joining this group has helped me so much in terms of feeling a little more prepared to release my son into military life.
You're welcome...also join boot camp moms...that's a great group for info and support
Got it. Thanks again.
