New to this site. My 18 yr old sons leaves Easter.

I am sitting here crying my eyes out reading your posts. I cry myself to sleep every night. My sons leaves for Chicago from Jax on 4/20. Easter Day. He is excited but dreading the good-byes. It's so hard watching his younger siblings cry, knowing he is leaving. I have read more info on this site and am so thankful for you all. Sorry to introduce myself so whiny.

I will be feeling the same way in short order.  My son ships out on May 1st and I am dreading the good byes already.  He is my youngest and it'll be an adjustment not having him close by or even available via phone or text.  Hopefully the time will go by quickly and then we can see our sons at PIR.

Hang in there.  He's doing great things.

Hi mom, I am new to site and Navy also. Just wanted to express some words of help.

I feel it important not to cry in front of my sailor as he leaves for he is trying to hold his on right now.

Also my husband said " its not good by, its see you later"

My oldest reminded me to show strength as my youngest is as he was leaving because that is exactly what I brought them up to be.

that is what I hold on to as I spend my time praying for him. This is what he wants for his life at least he is clean from drugs and not in the gang life. Be Proud Mom he is looking to Succeed.

My son left March 19th and I still am sad! It gets a little better! The Main thing is keep busy to distract yourself. Try not cry in front of him when he leaves! It's hard . You will feel much better after first real phone call and a letter!

Check your My Page.

Hi Jamie,my son left from jax back on 3/11/14. the day he left i felt lost but knew i had to hold it together.it gets easier...the 1st letter...the 1st call or should i say 2nd call, the 1 st call is i am there safe ,they read from a script so be prepared. we are also from PC.my son is 18 also, maybe your  son knows him .we r not supposed to use our complete names d/t security stuff.sons name is jonathan, nickname jon or jonny , was on Cross country team at matanza. Easter will be a hard day for you and your family.i have learned alot from this site  we are preparing our trip in may for grad or PIR is what it is called.

I'm new to this site too.  I leave Easter Sunday as well to go to RTC.  My son is graduating from boot camp on April 25th. As a mom you want to help and protect your kids. I knew tears would only make it harder for him, so I made my good bye short (his request), I gave him a note before he left; and, I cried like a baby in the car.  I told Jacob when things get hard, just remember... You are worthy.  You are loved.  And you are never alone.  I sign all of my letters with those words.  Take heart and keep telling yourself it's just a few weeks. One step at a time.
