Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

My Son called me last night nice suprise but he still not actually at the boot camp he is still where they go when they get off the plane. He said he doing stuff, learning ;how to fold clothes and whatever else he still has got to get his teeth pulled does anyone no why there is a delay he told me his pir date is Jan4th. He left last Thursday the November 8th.Is this normal?

He is in in-processing, which is still on the boot camp base, pretty much is boot camp for all practical purposes except counting weeks toward graduation. It is mostly normal, a little bit longer than usual. P-days can be a couple days, or a week, or in your son's case, more. Must have a ton of recruits who arrived near the same time, or fewer recruits, which delays forming up divisions. The Thanksgiving weekend probably delayed setting up divisions too.

thank you that does help, He talked to me for 10 min. He had to buy a calling card glad he had money on him. He told me his pir date was jan 4th could that change with his p days taking more time do you know?

Like Anti M said, if he has told you his PIR date, then that should be his PIR date. He may have been in a division that had to wait for more recruits to arrive this week to finish filling the division and he has to wait until they complete P-days to be moved to their Ship. That happens sometimes for those who arrive on Thursday or Friday. He will be at the RTC the typical 8 1/2 weeks (9 Fridays).

To get free calling cards (actually a phone number and PIN), go to http://callsforrecruits.org/ to find out more. You email Ronny and Anna at CallsforRecruits@gmail.com and ask for the calling cards. They will email you 8-12, but will send more if you need them. Each PIN that is provided is a onetime use number. You can use the form found on the site to write each PIN on for your recruit. Some people print out the form and then cut out the squares and write a PIN on each and staple them together. The recruit can then tear one off to use or give away. If you are able, please make a donation at the site to help with the cost of the cards. Once you have his address, you can send them to him.

Thank you for suggesting that those who can make a donation to callsforrecruits.org. I was so excited about this program, but also know that I don't really need "free." I want to support Ronny and Anna's wonderful efforts, and I would like others to do likewise. Although the phone cards are free, nothing is truly "free." Somebody has to pay for it. I am guessing that most of us on here (N4M) have some resources (we have Internet, after all) and we support our young men and women. I am not suggesting that any of us are wealthy (I am certainly NOT) but we can make a few things happen when we need to. I would like to send out a prayer for those young men and women whose parents are not on this site or any other, who cannot send their support for whatever reason. Perhaps there are a few recruits out there who have no support. As Navy moms, I would like to think that we can be moms to all our recruits and sailors, not just the ones we gave birth to. When my son was at MEPS, there were a few young men there who had no one. It broke my heart to see these young men make such a sacrifice, and no one was there for them. So if you need the free phone cards because your recruit could not call you, please, take advantage of this wonderful program. If you don't need free, please also take advantage of this program, and help get the word out. If you can afford to contribute a little more than you take, the program will continue to work for those who truly need it.

Thanks for that and when the loved ones send them, they can let their recruits know to share them with their shipmates who don't have any and then get more if needed.

Are we allowed to send calling cards? In the form letter it stated cards and letters only, no gifts. I was wondering if this counted as a gift. I don't want to get him in trouble

Yes, you can send calling cards and your recruit will not get in trouble for it.
