I've been conversing with some OCS moms who have been very helpful and I appreciate all of the information as my LO gets ready to enter OCS on May 9th (mother's day no less).  I learned that there's a new group every 3 weeks so if I've got it right and the March 28th group is 16-10, then May 9th must be 18-10.  I'm learning so much and curious if anyone has someone starting May 9th. The date is fast approaching!!

Hey ladies! My husband started OCS today as well. I was wondering if there was a facebook page for family and friends of Class 18-10 yet? If not, I think we should definitely start one up!
Actually, I searched everywhere for a facebook page, and couldn't find one, so I took the liberty of starting one up for us. The name is "OCS Class 18-10 Family and Friends." I've read back in some previous posts on this site, and it seems like it is safer for our loved ones if we post somewhere the information can't be used against them. So, just private message me if you are interested in joining, and I will approve you to be a part of the group!
I think I have to be a "friend" first before I can send you a PM! I'll see if I can join that Facebook group too. We took out LO there this weekend and it was very hard for me, but he just went with the flow!
My boyfriend just started yesterday...really hard and not so fun today but I am so proud of him! :)
I know how you feel!! It seems crazy to have such mixed emotions. It's super hard having him gone, but I can't help but feel proud that he is going after his dreams.
I agree. Are you married to your guy or dating? I am super proud of my guy. But everyone tells me to keep busy. I am with his mother right now because it is easier to be with his family than alone at my place.
I have been thinking about all of you having LO's starting OCS yesterday. No doubt about it this first week is tough for you, remember no news is good news and everyone on this site is here to support you. I can honestly say every week gets a little easier.

Best of luck to all of you and your LO's!
navygirl - We've been married for just under 2 years (our anniversary is the week of his graduation), and we have basically been attached at the hip for that entire time. It was super hard to even imagine being away from him for an extended period of time, but now actually doing it is worse...ha ha. I really wish that I could stay with family right now, but both of our families are about an hour and a half away, and I have a pretty good job here. I'm going to quit soon because I really don't enjoy my job, but my husband and I both thought it would be nice to put some money in the bank before we move. CC - that is awesome that you are going to run that morning! I am going to try to lose a little weight while my husband is gone, but I don't think I could run a 10 minute mile! My husband is also going to be a NFO. Maybe we'll be down in Pensacola together!
Awesome! we've been together for 5 months...and we have been hanging out a LOT! I am older than he is and having him not here is hard but gives me the chance to finish a lot of things I had been putting off- like get my license for social work, etc. I am going to work out too- I do run every day but have had surgery on my vocal cords and had to stop. I just got membership to the gym. I would like to run that with my guy...I plan to do a few 5K's this summer anyway...My guy is gonna be an NFO too. I am hoping for a job at the VA where I work now. I will be in Pensacola too.
Yay! How exciting to not only meet some people who are going through the same thing, but some that might be down in Pensacola at the same time! It would be nice to have some friendly faces after the move, I'm sure.
I guess we were lucky being able to take our LO to OCS in Rhode Island yesterday. Didn't realize that some just go on their own! We will probably try to see him the 9th week so we can give him back his cell phone and anything else he may be able to have at that point, then of course for graduation. Living 5 hours away gives us opportunities! He wants to enter Nuke school and work on a Submarine. Anyone with an LO doing that?
That is so nice that you are going to be able to go! We are all the way in Colorado, so none of his family is going to be able to make it out the entire time he is there, except for graduation. You'll have to take pictures of all of them when you go and post it on the facebook page. I've seen some of the girls from prior classes do that, and I know it would be amazing to sneak a peek of my husband!! If we were closer, I would do it myself!
