For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi Glennmom75! Yes, no looking at the food, sitting straight up. The glasses of water have to be an arms length away. It's basically bend, spoon food into mouth, put spoon down, sit straight up, chew and start again! My LO is hopefully going to join 19-10 on Sunday (I'm keeping my fingers crossed). He was in 18 but got hurt after only three days so I imagine, he'll be starting all over with 19! But I'm not entirely sure!

Thanks so much Glennmom! They're three weeks down and with I believe that with 20-10 starting yesterday, the 19-10 gets a teeny eensy breather. But I could be wrong!! RLP (inspection) comes up next week and that's a tough one for the kids! I taught my son to do his own laundry when he was a teenager, but not to the Navy's strict rules!

Hello! My name is Leteia and my husband is in the August 01 OCS class as well! He is enlisted right now and has been in for 10 years. We have three daughters ages 8, 4, and 2. We are very sad to see him go for three months, but excited at the same time! I am the ombudsman at his current command so I know a lot of the in's and out's of the navy and navy life! I just wanted to introduce myself and meet some of the other mom's & spouses going throught the same situation as me.

Welcome Leteia. I have my son starting in August 01 OCS. He has a beautiful wife, and three children also. He has daughter age 8,son age 6 and son age 4. He has been enlisted for almost 11 years. So I am a proud mom!! What is an ombudsman? They will be leaving for Rhode Island before we know it. I am fortunate he is stopping in on the way home as in Colorado now!!! Also welcome to the site. I am sure it will get real busy once it gets a lot closer!! My name is Laurie and welcome aboard!!!!

An ombudsman is kind of a link between the families and the command. We keep the families informed of what is going on and they can come to us with any questions/concerns they may have. Usually when family members need our help it is not a good situation, we usually only hear from them when they need help with something, like if the husband is gone on deployment and is not sending money home, stiff like that. But we are with a shore duty command, so usually nothing bad goes on here.
It is good to meet you and good to have someone to talk to that is going through the same stuff! We too have been watching OCS videos on youtube and it looks like no fun! But I know he can do it, he has done it once before and this time he is a lot more informed. After the first month it gets a lot easier. One of our friends just went through OCS so he has been lettin us know what to expect. -

Hi Leteia, my husband Darnell is also started on 8/1. We have 3 children as well agre 8,8,6. He was also prior enlisted. We live in Jacksonvill, FL now.. He is going in as SWO. Does anyone know when they will be told about orders???????? Prior to him leaving my husband said they might not find out until week 10... hmmm just wondering. We miss him so much alrready!!! :(

Welcome to all of you. My daughter was in 08-10 and is finishing up her training on August 6. OCS is a rollercoaster of emotions for those of us left behind. Ask any questions, and someone usually pops up with the answer pretty quickly. The biggest change for spouses or significant others is the complete lack of communiciation at first. We're used to texting or phoning several times a day, and once OCS starts, the communication disappears! Combined with the stress we know our LO is undergoing, there is much concern and worry on our end. We've been thru it, and we understand your emotions. Lean on us here. Good luck to your LO's as they begin.
