Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Outraged Momma Bear
I am hearing some not so great things happening on this website.
They range from cliques to RDC's trolling so they can cause problems for our SR's.
I have decided that I don't need this site like a handful of others I have heard from that have been publicly chastised on this site for posting things as mundane as their child's first name.
This is a sad thing, considering the idea behind it is a great one. I shall just be smart and stick with the actual Navy Website, my SR's recruiter and my SR for any information I need along with the group I have joined elsewhere that appears to have more knowledge of what is happening due to the fact there are more there sharing without fear of being talked down to or slapped in the face by someone else's words.
Shame on those of you that had less than good judgement in your actions and thoughtlessness in what you placed out in open forum towards other mothers who are just trying to make it through the next day of not hearing from their SR's.

What cliques? Can you be more specific? RDC trolling this site for info to use against the recruits? Why don't you talk to the RDC? Why blame this site or ALL people who are involved? The site does not control the RDCs. If you find other groups or individuals who are more helpful - that is OK. I am glad to see you getting the support you need.
People come on this site asking questions on a wide range of subjects. The individuals who take time and effort to answer the questions are simply just moms (like you) and dads. They are not paid employees of the Navy. Periodically we need support too. Rarely do we see newcomers turn the tables and ask the experienced "vet" moms/dads, "How was your day? Are you missing your son/daughter?"
The volunteers here try to be as supportive as possible, dispensing information in straightforward manner. I personally have put in hundreds and hundreds of hours. I know the ladies who are the vet moms on the PIR groups put in hundreds and hundreds of hours. Angie came on here on her own time (when she was still associated with the Navy). Craig has put in thousands of hours.
People come on there asking HOW? WHEN? WHERE? On a number of occasionally a questions is asked and the outcome is not what is expected or desired. All of a sudden, the person who responded is heartless, or rude or judgmental or thoughtless.
You encounter a situation or a group where you weren't comfortable or didn't feel you were getting any support. I am truly sorry for that. There are hundreds and hundreds of groups from every way in life - it's too bad that you didn't find a few that worked for you. Leaving is your choice but you might miss out on getting in touch with other members w loves one who are going through BC just like you son. I noticed you hadn't joined the Boot Camp Moms group or you PIR group.
I have made some life-long friends. Don't think we are lovey-dovey all the time. We disagree of issues many times. But we know we are all here for the same reason - to support each other and support our loved who are in the service.
Momma_Bear, good luck to you and your recruit and thank him of for offering to serve our country.
