My son is in his second week at boot camp. When he did the "I've arrived call" he said he'd call in two weeks.  What time of day do they have free time on their Sundays to make calls? I can't be at home all day waiting, but can arrange my schedule so I don't miss the call.

They can get their phone calls taken away at anytime and for lots of different reasons so I really don't think you'll be able to arrange much of anything. Sorry :(  I hope you get a call soon though!!

The Page, Phone Cards and Phone Calls (clickable link), within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones) will give you more info on phone calls.  While you are there, I suggest you join that group and also check out the other Pages.  You should be receiving the form letter soon so watch for the PIR group and join it once it has been created

Oh oh! How about forwarding your home phone to your cell if you have one when you leave the house?  I just thought of that, I remember reading about another mom who did that.  That could work?  And their "free time" isn't all that free if you ask me, they don't get a whole lot of choices for what they get to do with their holiday routine and definitely no phone calls during routine.  Me personally, I think little phone banks should have been added to the new barracks when they were built but then if it were up to me I probably would have designed water bunk beds, put in those gaming rocker chair thingys so they don't have to sit on the floor, or how bout a sauna in the head for after those rough PT's or ITE's??  One can only dream.

LOL, but thanks for reminding me about forwarding home phones.  I didn't have that in Phone Cards and Phone Calls.

I received my second phone call in week 3 and it came on a thursday night look for the 847 area code.....It's amazing to get that first phone call, I agree forward your phone to your cell that's what I did no way was I going to miss that call.  Theres alsolutely no way to know when they will call.  Good luck to you and him.

Ive received 2 calls from my son since he went in March 11 2013...his gf got a call a week later but missed it....he called the first time on his cell...early on the morning of March 12th...then it was the following weekend on a Saturday afternoon....the next time was a week later on a sat morning...that was it since...its been over 3 weeks since I last spoke to him...his gf missed a call from him on the 3rd week on a Monday morning.....I don't know that there is any rhyme or reason to the time of day or the day they are allowed to call....Im sure there is a line to use the phones...from what my son mentioned and it has been harder lately for some reason for him to do so...
