Greetings March Ship date Moms!  Looks like we have a date to look forward to.  If all goes as planned, our recruits will graduate on May 27, 2011.  My son is in Ship 11/Division 180.  I have received the box and now I have his address, so mail is on its way to him.  Please post when you can and I look forward to seeing all of you in Great Lakes on the new Holiday, 5/27/2011.

Hi Barb.  My son shipped from Seattle on March 29.  I got the call that night, then nothing until the PIR form letter yesterday.  Today, he called for the security clearance references, but it was not a chat.  He was calling to get info. and had to be brisk.  It was so wonderful to hear his voice.  Is your son ship 11/180?  If so, he will graduate on 5/27.  I would call your recruiter because he can access a computer database and give you the address you want.  Once you have your ship and division, add it to your user name so you can find other Mom's in Chazzy's division.  Jessicab is a GREAT resource if you have any questions and she is very happy to answer anything I don't know.
BFair your PIR date is 5/27 here is the link to the group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/p
Hi BFair.  My son is going to Norfolk for C School, Intelligence Specialist.  I hope we are not grad and go PIR weekend because it would be awesome to see them for the weekend.  Did you book your room yet?  I found spaces at the Courtyard, Springhill Suites and Residence Inn Waukegan.  None of it is particularly cheap, but I am thinking my son will want to come to our room, take a shower and use his laptop and phone. I wanted somewhere comfortable to hang out.  It is hard to miss my son, but I can't imagine how much harder it must be for you to miss your husband and for your son to miss his Dad.  I work for the VA and I can tell you, our sailors will benefit greatly from this sacrifice.  Order a blue star flag from Grantham University.  They are free and there is a link on this site somewhere.  I hung it outside and every day a new neighbor thanks my son for his sacrifice.  Hang in there.  Our men have joined a global force for good.  :)

Hi BFair, My curiosity got the best of me and I was wondering which MEPS station that your husband left from. My 2 sons left from Troy,MI. on the same day, and are the same ship and div. number. Also my 19 year old, M. will be training to be an Electricians Mate. I hope that our men are all healthy.

Hi all, I still haven't gotten the "form letter" with chaz' address...driving me crazy because he also left 3/29. I was told to call his recruiter yesterday, but he wasn't in the office, so guess I'll try again mon. I read somewhere on the site not to make travel arrangements until that letter came with PIR date. Seems like many people have found out quickly, so I don't really know what to think. There is so much to schedule, dog boarding and getting the news to his brother to get time off in another state. Should I just assume his grad date is 5/27? and book a flight. Sort of scared to do that in case something has postponed his date, like if they don't pass something and have to do it over, or get ill....I'm going nuts too hanging around the mailbox! I'm going to call his recruiter first thing mon morning and hopefully find out something...the waiting is the worst part for sure, but I don't want to book everything for the wrong date. I've already written him 3 letters with no where to send them! Got his clothes just a few days after he left...and that was it. Seems a little unorganized to me. I'll get back on after I talk to his recruiter mon. hang in there everybody, we'll get there somehow! chazzysmom
Barb, (Chazzys mom) how frustrating for you.  My recruiter was good and available so I was lucky.  Once you have your son's ship and division, everything will fall in place.  He may or may not graduate 5/27.  I would wait to book flights and rooms until you know, but since it is Memorial weekend, you are under pressure.  It is organized chaos at this point.  As I said to BFair,  I work for the VA and I can tell you, our sailors will benefit greatly from this sacrifice.  Order a blue star flag from Grantham University.  They are free and there is a link on this site somewhere.  I hung it outside and every day a new neighbor thanks my son for his sacrifice.  Hang in there.  Our men have joined a global force for good.  :)
my son same ship and div, got letter today with grad date 5/27, then looked at bootcamp page and they have it 5/26....also no idea how to find out if he is grad and go....seems everyone hears or reads something different....we have 4 people to fly, hotel and 3 dogs to board...it would be nice to get some accurate info...even if they are not grad and go, how long are we supposed to stay??? not finding very much info...disappointed to the point of crying and reading and calling recruiter. It should be more clear for us
chazzys mom here is the link to the 5/27 group http://www.navyformoms.com/group/p

The RTC hopefully will clarify the date. You rct will find out if he is G&G about 3 weeks before PIR

Unfortunately, even the Navy doesn't know if they are Saturday departures until about halfway through boot camp when the travel orders get processed.   If Monday is a federal holiday, and they are not Saturday departures, it is likely they will not fly out until Tuesday.  That is a best guess though, and there are always exceptions.

Do you know where his A school is located?  What is his rate?  Some do stay in Great Lakes, other fly out.

Ah, so there's a chance either way.  Hang in there!  Welcome to hurry up and wait.

laurelbc, I noticed your son shipped out from Seattle. Mine did also! He shipped 3/9 and his PIR date is 5/6. I can't think of a better Mother's Day gift! Just thought I would say hi and welcome you to Navyformoms.
