OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Hi All, just received the son's form letter confirming the address and PIR 5/24 that the recruiter gave me today. Yay!! Only 5 1/2 weeks more to go.

The group for May 24th PIR will be up sometime this weekend. Keep checking the Boot Camp group for the link.

I just got the good non scripted phone call and he sounded great! He was so excited to let me know how things are going! I told him how very proud I was and he also said he should be able to call again soon!

I didn't think they were allowed any phone calls other than that first night?  My older son was in the Marines and the only call we got other than first night was on Christmas day. Even when he was hospitalized with pneumonia we weren't called!

They usually get one or two more. It’s why they have to bring the phone minute card. http://navyformoms.ning.com/group/bootcampmoms/page/phone-cards-and...

Oh, I had no idea! I don't know if my recruit took a phone minutes card or not, but I suspect any calls he's allowed will be going to his girlfriend ;)

I think they can buy activated phone/calling cards at NEX. My son is in ship13 Div 212 and I haven't gotten a call yet either, but he will probably call his girlfriend before he calls home.

Here are the links for the May 31st and June 7th PIR groups. Be sure to join the group for your recruits graduation date. There will be lots of information in the group for you about boot camp and PIR, and other with the same grad date.

PIR: May 31, 2019 TG 30

PIR: June 7, 2019 TG 31

I see May 31 and June 7 PIR, but I’m not finding May 24.

Here is the link to the May 24th PIR group.
