Yeah love hearing all this about our young girls and young men!!!KelseyJo is very reserved as well until she knows someone. We told her " you know they will make you speak up" lol Her note said, " we'll I am here and I graduate August 31st. It's pretty intense but I think I will make it through! Etc etc just a note about here's the address so start writing and I miss you all! So this division was started earlier and had to wait for more females??
Debi

Perhaps they were waiting for more females Debbie...Not really sure, but going to ask Claire in my letter tonight.

Did you see on FB that we were going to send notes to each others kiddo's??...I realize not everyone has the time or even the interest in doing that, ( so please don't think I'm suggesting everyone do it)...But I'd like to drop to KelseyJo a quick note, if that's OK...Just need to know last name etc...And if you'd rather we not, that's fine too. :)

Where did you see this on FB, I think it is a good idea.

I love reading the other stories of how and why each daughter/son has joined.  My daughter Jess is 20 and has wanted to join the military since she was in the sixth grade, maybe even longer.  Her father hoped she would join the Air Force, where he served for ten years, but she saw a show on aircraft carriers at the age of 14 and that has been all she has talked about since.  She went to the recruiters right after she graduated, but got pushed and pulled and put off until now.  We did not have a good experience with the recruiter, but that is not for today.  I am so proud that she has followed through on her dream.

Jess is also a reserved person, until you get to know her and then you wonder how you could have thought that.  She has always related better to adults than her peers.  I worry about how she will do in this type of situation, she mentioned just before she left that she isn’t sure about being around so many people at once.  She is a skinny kid, she is blessed to be one of those kids who can eat everything and never gain an ounce, in fact she had to put on some weight as she started losing more when she started to train.  I wish I were the same!  I joke with her it’s because she doesn’t like chocolate or pizza J.  She has been working out, learning all the ranks, and reading up on everything she can.  She was as ready as she could make herself before she left.

I think this will be a great experience for hope it will help her grow up a bit.  She has always been daddy’s girl, and he can be a bit overprotective.  The only problem with being daddy’s girl is that I had to push her to go out on dates and do things with friends; she has always been the one in her room reading books.  I’m so happy she is getting out and experiencing life rather than reading about other people’s lives.  She was the kid I would get calls on from school because she was reading in class.  We would have to punish her by taking away her books, though her worse thing she did in high school was go to the library without permission.  So I am worried and hopeful at the same time.  I think this will be a growing experience for her and I am excited to see how she has changed in just eight weeks.

My daughter is going to A school for Aerographer’s Mate, what is everyone else going into?

Hi Jess's Mom!!

Here is the FB page to our Div. itself:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/415855658456505/

And here is the FB page for our group PIR group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/263982693707820/

Your daughter sounds a lot like me when I was younger...Loved to read and usually had 2 or 3 different books going at the same time!!...She'll be fine, but I understand the concern...If Claire were younger I'd be much more bothered than I am, ( not that I'm not thinking of, and worried about, her).

I know I talked about her time spent losing weight, but she had a very close friend who was in the same situation as your daughter before she joined the Air Force 2yrs ago...She had to gain weight and it's not as easy as some think for those who are just naturally thin...( This friend is probably one of the reasons Claire put weight on too though...Always going out to eat together etc.). :)    She ended up drinking protein shakes or something in the end and put on about 20lbs, ( still was very slim though).

Anyway, very nice to meet you...These weeks are going to fly I promise!! :)

Thanks for the FB page link, I had found the PIR one but not the div. one. She will be fine, I keep telling myself that, she is a strong woman, and this has been her dream.  She will come out even stronger.

I know too well what trying to lose weight is like, and I agree in both situations it can be hard!

What does it mean to be In a "push" group. I think 3/277 is a push??

They graduate in 7 weeks instead of 8 weeks.

ARG, I just went out to post my Monday morning letter and they did not pick up the one from Saturday. I know it will be okay, just frustrated.

My son said his division was a push group. I got a letter from him saying his graduation for his whole division might get set back. (ship 3, div 278) He gave no details. Anyone else hear anything?

Nevermind, I think he was just worrying when they were doing the motivational stuff.

They never setback a PIR group.  They may remove individuals (asmoed=setback) but the PIR dates don't change.  They will be threatened with this however.  They will threaten to hold back a division also, but I have never seen that happen on this site and I have been monitoring the PIR groups since late 2009.
