Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

So, I need to know all I can find out about meet and Greet, PIR and places to stay.  Looks like the Residence Inn in Waukegan is a great place.  Is the Meet and Greet near there?  Is it closer to fly into Midway or Waukegan (or wherever is nearer?)  I had read that it was a good idea to park your car at RTC the night before, catch a cab to the hotel, then miss the crowds by coming in on the shuttle the next morning.l  Then, your car is there the next day.

What has anyone else heard?

Claudia, Post this question in the PIR group. :) Those from your SR training group can let you know where they are staying. Diannep will continue to post info about the hotels, discussion will start about the meet and greets etc. in that group discussion too.

By now you know your SR's PIR date, so go to http://www.navyformoms.com/forum/topics/groups-listed-by-pir-date and join the group for that. Also check out PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend and Saving Money PIR Weekend.

Hi,

My son just went to boot camp this week, so I should find out next week when graduation is, I assume.  Can someone tell me how to find my PIR?  Thank you!

Debbie

PIR will either be 01/03/2014 (9 Fridays) or 01/10/2014 (10 Fridays). You will have to wait on the form letter to know for sure. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones). The good news is that your SR should be eligible for the Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor program and you will get paperwork on that in a week or so. (See What does ??? mean? (A Guide to Navy Abbreviations and Terminology) for info on that and other terms that you will come across.)

The next PIR group will be formed when someone gets a form letter.
