For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

They do not get a Christmas break in boot camp. They get a day of relaxed routine, a chance to go to church, a good meal, and possibly time to write letters. Don't even count on a phone call because there are so many recruits and so few phones. Churches often host the more advanced divisions for Christmas dinner, instead of having it in the chow hall. Relatives can also put in to sponsor their recruit if they are far enough along, through the Adopt A Sailor program, but only relatives, and not every recruit is eligible. If he graduates the week the A schools go on Christmas stand down, he can opt to borrow leave days and come home.
You'll know his PIR date sometime around week three. You can't just count the weeks because of the holidays and not knowing how many in processing days he will have.

I'm pretty sure he will be done before Christmas but that's good to know about borrowing leave days. Thank you. Also, the kids and I will be moving up there after the new year, and I keep hearing different opinions on the area. Where is a decent area for a family with four kids from 6 months to 17 years old? Somewhere safe.

If he is done before Christmas, then he can come home on leave. Dates will be announced later. He does have to pay for that travel.
Join this group and ask the wives who live in the area about where to rent. You'd also be eligible for base housing I believe. It isn't on base, just near it.

Thank you so much. I just hear some bad things about their base housing, but it seems like all old info.

His PIR will most likely be 12/13/2013, but since he arrived on a Wednesday, it could also be 12/20/2013. You will just have to wait on the form letter to know for sure. See Arrival and What Happens at the RTC within Boot Camp Moms (and loved ones).

You will see everything from very casual to very dressy. I suggest business casual or dressy church appropriate. Remember your Sailor will be in dress blues and you want to be appropriately dressed. See PIR Day and Liberty During PIR Weekend for other information to help you plan how to dress and how to plan your weekend.
