I understand how the guest list works for the ceremony and that our recruit will have to write the names down. However, his recruiter stated that others “could attend by watching at a big screen in the hanger”.   I can’t find any info to support this.

Is there another place to watch the ceremony at Great Lakes for other family members who aren’t on the coveted list?

The recruiter has not kept up with things at RTC. Beginning in October 2017 only those with a ticket and matching ID are able to enter RTC for PIR. All others will be turned away at the gate. Those who do not have a ticket can watch the Livestream at the hotel on a laptop or iPad or some hotels will show it on a television in a common room.

RTC will stream PIR live at http://navylive.dodlive.mil/ beginning at 8:45 am CST on the day of PIR for those who are unable to attend in person.

See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you plan your weekend. There is info there on picking up your ticket and more.

Please let the recruiter know that things have changed at RTC and only the recruit's three or four guests with tickets are able to attend PIR. (The only exception is children under the age of three years old and they can attend without a ticket. A copy of the child's birth certificate is needed for the child to attend.) See the info in your form letter about that.

Tickets that must be picked up ahead of PIR have replaced the use of names on the Access List and a gate pass that was used prior to October 2017.

Thanks for providing this information.  Apparently this misinformation is still being told to family's.  Not sure where my husband heard it, I don't think it was from the recruiter.

You are very welcome. It is sad that nearly two years after the change that old info is still being given by some. Your form letter and the RTC's sites are your best source for current info. We also have current info posted on N4M and there are several who will post updates when changes occur.
