OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. There are now tickets issued, and there are no longer parking passes for PIR.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Did you receive the form letter from your son, or did you find out his PIR and divisions from his recruiter?

From his recruiter

I see from another post that you got the information on your recruit from the recruiter. It is very possible that the division may change for your recruit after the time the recruiter receives the information. You do need to wait for the form letter from your son to know what his PIR date and division number will be.

Sending letters etc at this point will only delay him receiving them. He first needs to finish processing and then move over to his training ship. Once he has moved for training a recruit must be trained to handle the mail. That process can take several days to a couple of weeks. Any mail received before that is complete is set aside to be sorted as can be.

Thank you so much for your help! We will just wait and be patient..

Super excited! We received the form letter from our son today! Graduation confirmed for September 7th. Address, ship and division confirmed!!

Kaksmom I posted the PIR's but they are still not up and running Im guessing soon they will be.

Thank you so much!!

Oh I’m jealous! I can’t wait to get the letter. We were told a tentative PIR date of September 7th before our son left, but haven’t got the letter yet!

What day did your son leave? Our son left 7/11.

I hope you receive your letter very soon as well! I nearly cried just seeing his handwriting...

He left July 12th, so hopefully it will come any day now. I’ll probably tear up too!

Hoping and praying for you that it comes today!

Got the letter today! Yay!!
