Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hey! I just replied to your discussion in Nuke School Charleston group haha. When he completes A school, he might be put on "hold" for a few weeks until Power School starts. It's called "t-track" (t for transition, I think) and mainly consists of cleaning duties and watches... nothing serious. Then Power School will start :) You may be interested in the discussion I created called "Your Sailor's Schedule Upon Arrival to GC!" It's in this group's discussions as well as Nuke School Charleston's discussions.

Hi -- Where do I find info re Daniel's graduation? I need to confirm that it is March 5th. He was in Div. 372 in Boot Camp, and is now in Div. INBOC in Charleston's Nuke program. This is all fairly new to me. Thanks for your help! Jana

Hi Jana, Your son should be able to give you his A school graduation date soon because unless he gets sent back a class they pretty much know it right away. The length of his schooling depends on what hes going to school for - example: MM or ET. The group Casey started "Your Sailors Schedule Upon Arrival to GC is a very good reference.

Hi Kris,
Got back this last Sunday from spending an incredibly wonderful 4 days with my son for his A School graduation. He confirmed today that he will start Power School March 22 and Graduate Sept 3, less any unexpected illness or ??? My calendar is set up already to cross off the weeks until then. He's an EM and graduated with Distinction and recieved Honorman for class 946-M. My son also started with one class 946 but graduated with the next class 947. His first class was a mix of EM's and ET's and when they had to split for different subjects there wasn't enough EM's to continue so they were on hold for a week for the next class to catch up and finished with them. -

Hi Dana, Thank you for the Power School information and congrats to your son and to you! I know the graduating with distinction and being in the top part of the class is important to the sailors. My son was 1 out of 5 in his class who graduated with Distinction. We didnt go to A school graduation as we were planning to attend Power School graduation because he thought it would be end of September, but now the date changes things up. I'm content with just waiting...thanks again.

Kris, my son was also 946 and will be starting MM Power School in March. This has been a long road and I am very happy that "A" school is over and that the Sailors have enjoyed some well deserved time just being Sailors on base.
I look forward to all of your post and I have learned so much from all of the comments from the great moms out there--it's a whole new life as a navy mom. Thank you for starting this discussion group.

Hello again,
Well our guys should be starting power school next week, I'm sure they are looking forward to getting back to the books:). I'm sure the first couple of weeks we will hear lots of grumbling, it'll be interesting just how hard it is. Some of the posts sound like it could be more intense than A school. My son said he figured as long as you put in the effort you should do ok. Happy St Pats day, I'm sure there is green beer flowing at GC. -

Hi I'm glad I found this group. My son starts power school this month also and is in GC I try to talk to him about every weekend to keep up with whats going on there and waiting to hear the date for graduation. He is an MM3 and really enjoys it so far.When I hear anything new I will let everyone know and prayers out to everyone.

Hi, my son is EM, class 1003-A or 1, I am not sure, starting Power School this week. He came home 2 weeks ago with some of his nuke friends and we really enjoyed the time together.They are back in GC and ready to start PS.

Well tomorrow is the big day, they start school again! It is also my sons 24th birthday. Apparently there will be one class number like a school had (it will be 1003) but there will be different section numbers too. Apparently 4 or 5 sections is my understanding. Sounds like my son and his friends have been going to the bech recently, he said they had nice weather in the 80s this past weekend. As my son isnt the greatest for keeping in touch I will be anticipating other moms posts too!
