We had our PIR April 3rd! We have never been more proud! We stayed at American Best Value Inn and Suites in Waukegan. It was five minutes from PIR. It was a nice drive for us. So here it goes! We knew We had been extra emotional because of my mom's condition and my SR, but nothing prepared us for the pride We would feel when We first seen our Sailor!!! Oh my goodness, I fought back tears the entire time but when I was finally able to get to him I lost total control and bawled like a baby telling him how proud I was of him and he cried! It was one of the most amazing moments in my life other than when he was born. He took The news well of my mom so that was a relief! We hated having to tell him that on such a important day! We took him to Lonestar Steak it was wonderful! We had him back by 7pm. It flew by! Then we met him at the airport to give him his things. We wasn't worried about him for the first time in his life We knew he was gonna be ok. He was a man now but still our boy all at he same time. It was beautiful!!! Thanks to N4m's we made it through! Now he is at A School and doing well! We hear from him everyday and that is so nice! He grew up fast! Hang in there all you knew Mom's you'll be fine and so will your SR's!

Such a nice story.  A day you will remember always.  I loved reading it.  We read about the "Pride" we will feel at PIR but, until we experience it, we have no idea just how "Proud" we will be of our Sailor at that moment!  I'm anxiously waiting for that day!  Thank you for sharing you experience with us.

Thank you for sharing with us of your journey with your sailor son :)  we are too getting ready to fly over there for my son's PIR on Friday...I think I have to take your advise and hold back my tears  and  give him a big hug first...I still don't know if we'll be able to spend time with him or not since I didn't have chance to talk to him from the last time while he was still in week #4 :(...so I am sure he's looking forward to see us as well.. Sounds like your sailor son is doing well and you're a very proud mama :) Congrats...

Congratulations~! :)

Thank you for sharing...I'm in tears as i read this. My son graduates May 29th. I can hardly wait. Thank you again and God bless:)
