Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Question regarding Dependents going to the Commissary/NEX

So, my wife just finished up Battlestations a night ago, and will be PIR this Friday (cannot WAIT!)

Anyway, she is a musician and will be at A-School in Norfolk for 3-6 months, for this time we are going to get an apartment in the area and live there until she gets stationed.

 

Anyway, I know she can't leave base for the first 2 weeks, but I do want to get settled in a bit ahead of her (so that there are things like groceries already there, etc).. what I don't know, and this is my question..

 

Can dependents get to the Commissary or NEX.. or basically, what privileges do dependents have in terms of base access.. I mean, I assume they don't want us walking around, but I was under the impression that with my Military Dependent ID card, I could access the NEX, etc.. BUT.. for the first 2 weeks, my wife wouldn't be with me. Can I access these without her present?

 

If anyone knows the answer to this, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am gonna give you this advice as a local.... the oceana and little creek nex are the way to go, little creek commissary is the best in terms of crowd. Good luck :) You can go to NEX and Commissary and get on base with your ID and car stickers :) Enjoy!

Dependents can walk around the base as long as they have base stickers and current military ID card.  Medical is on base, NEX, commissary, FFSC, USO.

 

I have used my dependent ID card to go where ever on the base.
