Hi There
I have a General question regarding Hotel stay. I booked a Hotel near GL base for graduation. If my daughter is leaving the next day for San Antonio, should we change our hotel to be near the airport so that we can try and meet her the morning that she leaves? Is that what most people do? What are the chances for us to be with her at the airport in the am? I know it may be very early from what I have read.. Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you

Excellent question - My daughter graduates next month and I am wondering the same. Any replies?
I am wondering the same thing! I will be booking in Great Lakes today and I am looking at booking near Ohare on the 18th. I was hoping someone would have information on what hotel to book that might have a shuttle running that late so we can see them off. My son is going to San Antonio too and he wants me to get his cell phone to him at the airport.
Most keep the same hotel. Some do book a hotel closer to O'Hare for Friday and Saturday since many, not all, Sailors fly out of O'Hare.
No matter what you choose to do for the hotel be sure to meet your new Sailor at the airport so you can give her her cell phone and charger and a few things to put in her black backpack and/or sea bag.
See PIR Day and Liberty during PIR Weekend to help you know how to plan your weekend.
Trying to look at my flights, when do the SR get their flight information as its cheaper to fly to midway, but if he will be leaving from O'Hare?
Most do not know the flight details until the week of PIR and some do not know them until the morning of PIR. Book your flights and don't worry about where your then Sailor will fly out of. Many going to San Antonio fly out of O'Hare, but some fly out of Midway.
HI,
Not sure of the answer but thinking we all have kids graduating on the same day. 1/25? Has anyone received a final confirmation? My son called but said he may be delayed a week. We still have not booked anything. Waiting for the recruiter who will hopefully have a more information. He has not been able to take the swim test yet.
Final confirmation? Her recruiter would have information? My daughter called on Christmas day, said nothing about a delay so I booked my flight. Have not booked hotel yet.
Shannon's Mom, book your hotel and make plans to attend PIR as scheduled. All is well with your recruit unless she calls and tells you there is a problem.
Thank you so much. I appreciate this site, your assistance, and all the other mothers!
You are very welcome.
Marissa, your recruit is the best source for information. The recruiter can only tell you what is in the system and since you have not received a call from your recruit (son) saying that he has been ASMO'd and WILL be delayed, then the info available to the recruiter is that he will have PIR as scheduled. Decide for yourself about making plans, but know the longer you wait, the harder it will be to get good reservations.
