For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

This is What I have heard:
try to get to the Thursday night family meet and greet. You'll get lots of information.
I don't think it's too late to research a too.
After graduation you are able to to have your son/daughter for the rest of they day. They have to go back to base for the night. Then they fly out on Saturday to their next base. I understand we are able to I to airport to give them cell phone, laptop and they want their own underwear. Currently they get white underwear. Look at the website listed in your first scripted letter. It gives you a lot of info. There is also a Facebook page for 9-26-14 graduation. Which is a closed page. Not sure of your graduation but they might have one for your date too. I am just learning too. Any information is good to know.

If you are taking the Metra train to Great Lakes, you do not want Union Station. The UP-N branch of Metra leaves from the Ogilvie Transportation Center (OTC) several block north of Union Station.
What bus line? Both Greyhound and Trailways would most likely require a taxi ride.

Trailways is nearby, I have walked it before (unless they moved it). Not the best neighborhood at night, be sure to do that in the daylight.

Have you inquire in your PIR group to find out if there is another family coming from your area? If yes, ask if they are willing to take you along and you contribute to cost of gas. I am not a fan of public transportation if you have not been there before, especially for a single woman. Look harder for alternatives!
