Hello everyone,

My daughter leaves for bootcamp November 9th.  This will be the first time she won't be home for the holidays.  I was just wondering what happens during Thanksgiving and Christmas???

Just wondering,

Maria

They have a non-training day, like a Sunday schedule. No visitors. However, they do have a huge meal, and they might even get to talk while they eat. They will have down time, perhaps a phone call, but don't count on it. They will be allowed to go to church if they desire.
My son is in bootcamp now and scheduled to graduate 12/17 with leave until 12/28. I can tell you that his first initial request was to send letters, pictures and cards...but since he has said don't send pictures and cards. He said they "are not good". I think they must really give them a hard time over what they receive. He also said they have very limited space to keep things.
Just wanted to share!
Thanks TysMom...I will ask my SR his thoughts! So far he hasn't said a word about getting them (if they are hard on him)...the only thing he has said is... "I got 4 letters today and it appears its taking 4-5 days to reach him?! Mine said absolutely no cards though...just letters and photo's in a standard white envelope, so I stick to that!

Thanks so much for the info.

My daughter just left yesterday and I'm with you, she will be spending all the major holidays in boot camp plus her 21st birthday. This is our first time without each other on the holidays too. Seems strange that I've been separated from my husband or my son for Christmas at one time or another but never her.

HooooRaaahhhh! Got a 30 minute phone call today! And not a moment too soon, I am really missing him today!!!! Pretty much the same mind set (frustrated), but when I asked "how are you REALLY...he said "good!".! Loves being the Laundry Guy though, he does it every night and takes full advantage of the 'quiet' laundry room to study!!! He knows the "Forest Gump" Guy...but added they also call him the "Silver Sharpe" too, LOL! Something about the very first day they were "DRILLED" when writing on clothing "Make sure you use the BLACK SHARPE MARKER...USE the BLACK Sharpe Marker...over and over again!" "Forest" apparently picked up and used the "Silver Sharpe" :)! They all paid for it!!! First test of "following directions" I would imagine! He did say the same thing...when they do several hours of IT, "Forest" keeps on going, and never breaks a sweat!" They are going into "Hell Week" this week (Starts Wednesday), but was pleased they would get a break on Thursday for Thanksgiving. He stated... "part of this divisions problem...everyone wants to socialize and won't shut up!" He ended with..."looking forward to seeing everyone, and can't wait to get a good night sleep!"

Hope ya'll got your calls today!

Cindy
I am wondering about this my self; my son left on November 16 an I would like to know also what happens to them during Holidays.
I miss my son sooooo much also
Hugs! The latest news coming out of Korea has be SCARED TO DEATH! If this goes to war, it will be a "war at Sea" and our SR's could be right in the middle of it!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

Cindy
