Choose your Username.  For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either).  Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username.  While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups!  Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself!  Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility. 

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.  

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed.  Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

I'm new to the forum as of today.  My son was in the DEP program and was scheduled to go to boot camp June 2011.  Got a call last week that there was spot open if he wanted to go this week.  Told them a big YES as he is unemployed and ready to go.  Was told he needed to be at recruiting office today to sign some papers and be ready to leave.  Got a call from the recruiter this morning saying that they had given his place to someone else.  What?  You've got to be kidding me.  He gave notice at his apartment, gave away most of his possessions and was ready to leave.  Went to talk to the recruiter and they said nothing could be done about it now, it has already been done.

 

Has this happened to anyone else?  Any advice?  Is there a number to call to complain and report what has happened because this just isn't right.

Yes, he had put in an official request, that's why they called and offered it to him. We are just stunned and devastated. I'll check out these websites and see what I can find. Do you know if they can switch to another recruiting office? I don't ever want to see these people again! Thanks for your reply.
I have heard of this before on this site....the job is up for grabs....one recruiter calls his recruit to offer it to him and another recruiter offers it to another recruit...whichever recruit gets to MEPS first gets the job...the recruiters have no control on jobs being available at MEPS....they can only call the recruits, take them to MEPS and hope the job is still there when they arrive. There are bad recruiters, but no all recruiters are bad.
I understand now, that that's how it works but......we were both told that he "got it" and to get ready to go. And, they KNEW on Wed. last week that he didn't get it but didn't tell us until today even though I called numerous times and got no response. They screwed up big time. If they'd just let us know as soon as they did, it would be a different situation.
