There is a Meet & Greet at the Ramada the night before PIR from 6-8pm. You don't have to be a guest at the Ramada to attend.

Ask on your PIR group where everyone plans on staying
Thank you Jessica B!
@ Carolyn, was this the Waukeegan Gurney one? I sure hope so, because it sounds nice. That's the one we got. So what time did you have to leave in order to make it the graduation. Did you reserve the taxi?
We stayed at the Residence Inn and after graduation my son and I went to the commissary and we got his favorite foods and I cooked them at the Hotel I even borrowed a pan from the kitchen in the lobby for my homemade yeast rolls, he was soooo excited for mom's homecooked meal!
Thank you Carolyn. This helps a lot!!!
Do you happen to know the address of the Residence Inn you stayed at? My daughter will be graduating
sometime in October and the way it sound, this is a great hotel to stay at. I think we may also try and stay
at this hotel. Thanks for your help.
We are staying at the Resident Inn by Marriott 26325 N. Riverwoods Blvd, Forrest/Mettawa, IL 60045 Phone: 847-615-2701. This hotel is 7 miles south of the base and was built in 2007. There is a Marriott a few miles closer in Waukegan 847-689-9240. We decided on the Marriott in Forrest because it was newer. I have had the feeling that all the hotels closer would be run down to a degree due the constant influx of people wanting to be within a stones throw of the base. The hotels closer seem to be more money and we were quoted $89.00 per night, however there is no complimentary breakfast at this Marriott. Breakfast is served but they charge for it. I guess it all works out in the wash in the end. We will be attending 08/27/10 graduation, so I'll let you know how it is.

We had a great stay with our son PIR 08/27/10. How much boot camp has changed him! Our first night at the hotel in Mettawa/Forest Marriott

Resident, our son popped out of bed at 5:00 am and was stumbling around in the dark not knowing where he was - he was ready for muster! I told him he was with Mom and Dad and to go back to bed, and with a sigh of relief he went back to bed and slept to 11:00 am. The night before he took a 1/2 shower and enjoyed the privacy of the bathroom for once! LOL It was the little things in life which became of prime importance. By the way, I was told that breakfast at this hotel was not included, but a full breakfast with eggs, sausage, fruit, cereal, breads, coffee, etc. was complementary!
very well written! very helpful-thank you-i'm going in nov.
We stayed at some little hotel real close to the base. It was OK

We also will be attending the graduation on 8/27. This is all very new to me. What is a PIR group? We also have reservations at the Residence Inn. I have so many questions. I have only received one letter and one phone call from my son, Ship 07, Div 288. How do I know he is has passed everything he needs to pass? The most important question is he had to join reserves even though he wanted active duty. There was about a 1 year waiting list for active duty. Are you allowed to change from reserve to active duty if something becomes available. He wants a steady job with income... I am so confused..
